    Friday game review:

No. 22 Baseball takes Kansas series with 8-1 win - University of Texas Athletics

With Tech about to lose again the Horns appear locked in to fifth in the conference. Texas could end up tied for fourth with either Tech or OSU or even tied for third with both Tech and OSU but loses the tie brake to both and thus will be five seed in tourny. The cup half full of that is there is a chance to get some quality RPI wins in Arlington and maybe sneak into a host spot out of that five seed since the Horns would play games aginst the 4 and 1 seeds.

so, in hoops it is the Conference champ but in baseball it is only tournament champion. Does not make sense.

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

Game 3 vs. OSU... Horns lead, what 7-0 latter part of the game, but ended up losing 11-9 or something like that. Bullpen could not get strikes and outs....

    Disgusting loss

Truth be told whoever ends up “winning the Big XII regular season” they didn’t win it, Texas lost it. The two late blown leads in Lubbock, the brain farts in Manhattan and the soul crusher on Sunday against OSU, win any two of those and Texas wins the regular season title and is probably a national seed in the 7-8 line. This season is still more than salvageable (particularly if they make a run in Arlington and slip into a regional host slot) but it’s probably going to take road regional and road super regional performances to get to Omaha and with the talent this team has that is unfortunate because they should have been in Austin all the way to Omaha and not in College Station :puke: or who knows where the regional weekend.

If we achieve 40 wins with this schedule, but are nonetheless robbed of a regional host, I would think we’d be one of the better 2 seeds out there. They should match us with one of the worst hosts in this general area of the country. That could point to San Marcos, Stillwater, or some other place. If they put us in College Station, they’ve really screwed the ags. Then again, they could send us up to Dallas, if the committee values the biased opinions of magazine bloggers more than the objective RPI wrt DBU.

DBU is the #6 team in the country.

More than happy to play in a DBU regional than getting a very tough regional in Austin if that was the case.

    Morehouse gets the start.

So I guess both Harrison and Stevens will be relievers.

That certainly beefs up our bullpen. But this strategy relies on Morehouse getting the job done as the #3 starter.

Maui with a base hit. Men on 1 and 3. One out.

I’m tellin ya—if he’s eligibile, we need to pitch Maui for a grad transfer year in Austin. Same as Messinger did. Tulo will coach him, so he could have a 0.440 batting average or something…

    K. That’s the fourth for Morehouse.

Zane is working the outside corners and challenging batters up high in the zone.

I just typed that, and now he starts working the inside of the zone.

Ground out to Daly. Two away.

Homerun McMurray. To RF. Zane came up high and KU connected.

    1-0 KU.

With that last batter, Zane was getting up high—above the zone. He walked around behind the mound a bit, and came back and struck him out.

Silas gunned down Maui trying to steal!!!

    End of the side.

After 3 innings of work, Zane Morehouse has only given up one run.

Oh no. Double off the wall. 2RBI.

    3-0 KU.

Both the runners that scored were Zane’s, so he’ll take the hit on the stats sheet.

Now the pitching coach comes out to the mound to discuss which place has the best margaritas in Austin…

    (Jaime’s—if it still exists)
    (Baby Acupulco for the biggest)
