The only thing that Red McCombs got wrong about Charlie is that he would make a good coordinator or position coach.
At some point the PC strategy has an unintended consequence, that of protecting an individual who is clearly not capable of handling the job. Such a decision to not make the obviously decision untimately has the effect of demeaning and devaluing the individual, to his or her detriment.
How did Charlie get Louisville to play so well? Was someone else responsible for how well that program played?
Everyone who said "oh, we like our coach, so now that he's under fire, we'll stop playing lackadaisically" was full of it.
Charlie not talking to the players instead talking to someone in the booth. Just don't understand what this guy's thinking!
I'm feeling that feeling I get when my kid does something wrong and I am forced to admit it was their fault.
They were playing a lower level of football in a lower conference. Charlie is probably not a bad coach in a second tier conference. The Big East/AAC was getting worse every year as teams like WVU, Syracuse and Pitt left the conference. That said, Charlie never won an outright conference title while he was there and he played a really easy schedule his last season.
The defering thing is so dumb to worry about. Either way each half begins with us failing and them succeeding.
D Did you watch the OU game? 667 yds and 1/2 on the ground. We got raped that game too. We are the prison effeminate. We wear the makeup and the dress. The whole 9 yds.
At this point, you could draw names and pull someone out of the stands and get a better (or at least not worse) result...
All the possible legit criticisms of Strong and people still have to stretch like this to come up with more.
Well, he can't get it done with this bunch. And these are his players. He owns this result. From what I've seen, I have no idea why anyone would hire this clown.
FWIW, when I was playing in a poker tourney early in the week just south of Chicago, I had someone who saw my Texas hat thank me for Texas having taken Strong off of Louisville's hands...apparently they were not fond of him and believe the program won in spite of him, not unlike Texas did with Vince at QB.
And Shane, do not slide short of a 1st down. Damn man, have some heart. Only 2 guys on this team with any heart. Hager and Foreman. Rest are just going through the motions. I guess it's time for another team meeting to hold hands and eat fondue.
