1st, Rice blanked, Duke up, triples, Todd drives Duke in, then a double play to end inning, top of 2nd, Horns 1-0.

Rice ties it up top of 3rd, going to bottom for Horns.

Horns plate another in bottom of 3rd, 2-1 Horns, on to Rice's 4th.

Rice threatens, gets runners to 2nd/3rd, Horns pitching works out of it, retires the side with no Rice runs. Bottom of 4th, 2-1 Horns.

Sorry, distraction here, Stevens relieved, followed by Bocchi, to bottom of 6th still 2-1 Horns.

Ellis singles, hit and run, Ford singles, at 1st and 3rd, no outs. Todd at the plate. Hits into a doubleplay, but scores Ellis, 3-1 Horns, 2 outs. Reynolds grounds out, to top of 7th, 3-1.

Top of 7th, Bocchi retires first two, then Cruz (9th in order) goes 2-1 and HBP, then Bocchi strikes out next batter. Molto bella!

Bottom 7th, Tate singles. As Shaw bats Tate caught attempted steal of 2nd. Shaw Ks. Zooobia goes 3-2 and gets the walk with 2 outs. Bertleson drives out.

On to 8th, 3-1 Horns. Ivey on the bump. 3 pitches to get the first 2, then base hit, followed by fly out by next batter. Horns bottom of 8th.

Just noticed; no David Ash jersey guy. Horns go 3 up 3 down, to the 9th, 3-1 Horns.

Diaz pitching, gets batter to fly out on 1st pitch. Gets 2nd Owl to ground out. Diaz takes batter to 0-2, then walks him. 1 on, 2 outs. Now this batter 0-2, and Struck Him Out.

    Horns win 3-1.

Solid mid week win, and as pointed out on broadcast Horns are 6-4 in midweek games with 5 winnable ones remaining. 11-4 midweek record would be very good for this team. :hookem:

Thx, was at my PC, able to latch onto the online feed of LHN while working, so could multitask.

Don't recall who first labelled this team as "scrappy" was it 'theiioftexas' or 'PhilElliot'? but last night towards the latter part of the game Zeke opined "You know, this team is ..... gritty, yeah, that's it, gritty ..." glommed onto by Zonk "Yeah, gritty." LG: "Yes."

Zeke continued "... they can get down 3 or 4 runs, well not tonight, ... yet ... but when they get behind they don't slump shoulders like a lot of teams, you can see them, their body language and banter with each other, they just feel like this game ain't over yet.... " LG: "...and the record speaks to that, of the 10 games they got behind in they went on to win 7" (or something like that). Then Zeke added: "It's been a number of years since I've seen a Texas team with this much fight in it."

So, kudos to whoever started the "scrappy" label; great minds think alike, theiioftexas, PhilElliot, Zonk, Zeke, Gallindo. Scrappy, gritty, gutsy, ballsy, whatever, all the same.

I feel like this team scraps it’s way to Omaha.
