Horns with midweek match up against bearkats looking to keep their winning streak going. http://texassports.com/news/2018/3/...exas-vs-no-25-sam-houston-state-march-20.aspx
The bearkats are 16-4 and likely to win their conference. Like I said in the other thread, we need to beat them as it will pay dividends for our RPI. I believe SHSU is also ranked in some of the polls.
Hopefully, another good outing to keep the forward momentum. OSU in over the weekend. This will be the first Big XII series for OSU who have played a lesser non-conference schedule than Texas. Their only real test was a 3 game series with ASU where they lost the first two games.
Follow up: we are currently #41 in the RPI and Sam Houston is #24, so like I said, this will be a good win if we pull it off.
Incredible that SHSU is ranked above us. I’m sure they deserve it, but I hope the new AD corrects this soon.
Horns with an impressive 3-2 win over a really good SHSU squad and they run their win streak to 4. Kingham pitched scoreless ninth to notch the save. Horns get Okie State at home this weekend for three more as they look to keep the win streak going.
Huge Tuesday win! Our RPI jumped from 41 to 36. Now need to keep things rolling against Oklahoma State!
I am still trying to get used to the differences in the coaching style that is different from Augie. However, from the radio interviews of Pierce, he definitely seems to have a bigger emphasis on winning the midweek and Sunday games because of the sense of importance to DP. Pierce will tend to "put the hammer down" in important situations when he substitutes for players instead of trying out the more inexperienced players for their development. There is not the definite closer on this team yet. DP seems to be still experimenting with using Beau as the closer. If I understood the broadcast correctly, Pierce had McGuire ready to come in to close out the ninth but chose Kingham instead. I also do not think that DP would have let Kingham crank up the pitch count without going to McGuire -- meaning Kingham was on a "tight leash".
