Horns open up the huge 4 game road series with a big 4-0 win last night. Here is summary from Horns 24x7: http://texas.247sports.com/Bolt/No-...art-with-4-0-win-over-No-19-Stanford-51576856 And here is summary from BON: http://www.burntorangenation.com/20...longhorns-4-stanford-cardinal-0-nolan-kingham
Huge win. Outstanding pitching. It looks like we have a butt-load of talent at starting pitching. Will leave it at that, as I want to stay positive with this new bunch as they work out the kinks. Love beating Stanford. Would be great to tie or win the series against that program at their place.
Why is Baker playing third ???? Cost us a run most probably with staying back on that grounder in the inning they tied us up....... Our bats are weak...Why do we have an under cut swing all the time ????? We have no bull pen.... Gonna be a long season. Pierce better recruit well if he wants to stick around. Liked seeing him chew Shugart out. We need some fire when we screw up !!!! There is hope if we learn to keep from dropping our hands and hit down on the ball.
The better question is why they even keep using Shugart. 1 K, 1 single, 1 walk, and 1 HBP which then resulted in the ER to tie the game.
Horns drop second game 3-2. Summary from Texassports: http://www.texassports.com/news/2017/3/3/-21-baseball-falls-to-19-stanford-in-ninth.aspx
Wow. You gave them one game to "work out the kinks". You managed to stay positive for an entire one game. I'm starting to think this is a fake poster. No one is this ridiculous.
For second day in a row the Horns blow a 2-0 lead late, giving up one in the 8th and then tying run in bottom of ninth followed by game winning three run home run with two outs in bottom of 10th to lose 5-2 . Fourth game tomorrow to try and get out of Palo Alto with a 2-2 split.
The Sunday game has been moved to today. It will start 30 min after the end of the 1st game. They said there will not be video for it though.
Bench your stud third baseman and the replacement does what he did ...You get a grounder to third and should get an out...and DON'T....(I think that play got in Shugart's head and cost us the game, as he crumbled from that point )......... it is hard to stay positive after that.
Stanford started 4 lefties so work on hitting LH pitching and continued work on hitting. Nothing but time will cure the experience level.
Well, Pierce not only had 1 game to do it, he had 24 hours, in a comfy hotel in CA, fire him I say. On a serious note, played a Thu,Fri,Sat DH series far away, against a perennial power, top 25 team, won the first, kept within a couple of runs in other 3. Early. I think I posted a parallel post about men's basketball with a final word of "Early". Hope I'm not a jinxer.
I will say we look better with our approach at the plate than in the past. Its just the results still suck. Hopefully that turns around.
Disappointing that we had leads in games 2 & 3 late and blew it in the 9th both times. This is a light-hitting team so we need our closer to get the job done when a win is available. Still too many strikeouts from our hitters. I actually agree with car54 about our need to keep our hands up and hit down on the ball.
