Preview from Texassports as Horns visit 9th ranked Horned Frogs: http://www.texassports.com/news/2017/5/4/baseball-preview-at-no-9-tcu-may-5-7.aspx Game tonight is on ESPNU, tomorrow is ESPN2 and Sunday is back on ESPNU
Horns come back from 9-4 deficit to tie game in ninth and take lead in tenth, but they surrender tying run in 10th and the game winning run in 11th to lose 11-10. Another game that was right there for the win. If Texas ends up not making the tournament they will look at a handful of games including this one where they blew leads in the final inning and lost. http://www.texassports.com/news/201...seball-falls-11-10-to-no-9-tcu-in-extras.aspx
Horns drop second game 8-2 and are never at any point even a threat to win this one. Will try to avoid getting swept tomorrow.
Another late blown lead. Lose on a walkoff 4-3. Also was hosed in the top of the 10th on a blown call, but it shouldn't have come down to that. Texas has 12 1-run losses this year. 7 in conference. Ouch.
And it seems that Texas has had the lead late in a lot of those 1-run losses. Anyone know how many blown saves versus saves the bullpen has? That has to be tough on the starting pitchers.
Disappointing end to a disappointing weekend in Fort Worth as Horns get swept in a series they legitimately could have won 2 of 3. They fall to 9-11 in conference and 31-19 overall. These last four games are huge in terms of making the tournament and Texas likely needs to go 3-1 to solidify a spot.
I stated in another thread that 35 wins would get them in. I still stand by that, but 35 now may be optimistic. I would expect 3-1 finish and 1 tourney win, which would get there. But 2-2 & tourney donut could be the end of the season!
The Sunday game was the worst of the 3. We finally get good starting pitching and the bullpen walks in 2 runs.
