Much of TT's success, or lack thereof, will depend on the health of Josh Jung. He's missed the last two games. At 11-3 they're not awful but their pitching has been fairly unimpressive.
After falling behind 3-0 early, the Horns benefit from a couple of Tech errors in the sixth and take the opener 4-3. Huge win to start series but need to get at least one more and take the series.

Kamron Fields was huge last night and overall the pitching but for a two out collapse in one inning was outstanding. Even Pierce thought the ump was squeezing Elder in the third when Tech scored all three runs with two outs.
You're all welcome. I stopped listening while it was 3-0 in the fifth and I think we had only one hit to that point.
Saturday game is pitchers duel through 5 at 0-0. Horns have just one hit while Tech has three hits. Horns need to generate some offense.
Pierce let’s Henley start the 8th but first two batters get on, Quintanilla on in relief, runners on second and third with one out.
Intentional walk and wild pitch puts runner at second, runner at third unable to score but Tech threatening to blow this one open.
Pierce usually makes right call with his pitching staff but it was mistake to let Henley come back in the 8th having already thrown 95 plus pitches. Another single and Tech has runners at the corners with two outs.
Quintanilla gets K to end inning but Tech scores three huge runs and Horns who have had no offense all day except for one hit will need to find something in these last two at bats.
Horns load bases in the ninth on three walks but can’t get any hitting and lose 3-0. This is third time this year Horns have been shut out and only gotten one hit. This team has struggled offensively on too many occasions and when it does it really struggles. Rubber match tomorrow is huge.
Game two review from Texassports: https://texassports.com/news/2019/3...-comes-up-short-against-no-11-texas-tech.aspx
Very hard to win when you can't score. Oh, well, tomorrow is another day - a W to take the series would be nice.
BON review of Saturday game: No. 12 Texas falls short against No. 11 Texas Tech 3-0, evening the series
Game 3 going to the bottom of the fourth, no score. Horns are hit less so far, tech has 3 base hits., Need a rally here
Crap. We left two on in scoring position in Frank Erwin's favorite half inning. Montgomery struck out the side, still 1-0
