Horns host the second of two midweek games at the Disch tonight as they prep for top ranked LSU coming to town this weekend.

Total collapse by the bullpen in the 5th as we go thru 4 pitchers b4 we can find anyone who can throw a strike. 2 errors by the def on top of that. 70 pitches (!) thrown and we go from up 6-0 to down 8-6. Ugly!

10 BBs + 4 errors = 7-10 loss to utsa despite outhitting them 13-7. Brutal.

Ugly loss but you get one or two of those most seasons. Horns need to bounce back and they have an immediate and big opportunity with LSU this weekend. Take 2 of 3 in that series and this loss becomes a learning experience. Here is summary of last nights disaster from texassports:

No. 22 Baseball falls to UTSA - University of Texas Athletics

Terrible fielding didn't help, but the bullpen was...uneven last year and is already trending the same for this year. We have GOT to have better production from them or March is going to be a brutal month, never mind the rest of the season.

Meany looked solid though. Looking forward to seeing his pitch count increase as the season goes on.

I thought the bullpen had been pretty solid until last night. Dang nobody could throw a strike reliably, not even Quintanilla, until Kubichek got in there. Meanwhile their guy Mason something-or-other was killing us.

One feeds the other is all I can think. All of a sudden, once the bullpen fell apart, nobody could keep the ball in their glove.
