Senior right hander, Ty Marlow, comes in for the righty on righty match up, Skip wants.

Beck will bat righty, with the winning run at first.
    Marlow pitches to contact mostly.
Is this a bunt for KU?
No sign of a bunt and Texas needs a ground ball.
Instead a liner to left is a single, to put two on.

Afenir bats lefty, with two on.
He's got to bunt, you would think.
He squares and fouls it off.
Then gets the 1-4 sac down, to move the runners to second and third.

Joe Moroney, who pinch ran, will bat for the first time tonight, from the right side, with two on and one down.
He will be put on to load the bases and set up the force at home and the double play.

Skip out and he leaves Marlow in.

Goldstein in up lefty, with the bases loade and one away.
Outfield is in, as a fly ball with any depth would score the winning run.
A ground ball up the middle and Hinojosa has it and touches the bag and goes to first, for the inning ending 6U-3 double play.

    Eleven played tied 2-2.

Villilines is back out to pitch the twelfth.

Kacy Clemens will pinch hit for Stell, batting lefty.
    A .182 hitter bats for a .152 hitter.
The count goes full and he K's swinging, as the strike outs are in double figures again in a game.

Boswell bats lefty, with one down.
Another full count and another swing at a pitch out of the zone, for a K.

Two outs, as Gurwitz bats righty, at the tail end of the order, with two outs.
A slow roller is goes up the middle, the second baseman bare hands it, but the throw is just late, for an infield hit.

Johnson bats righty, with one on and two away.
Gurwitz, should go, but probably won't.
Two strikes on Johnson, why not send Gurwitz.
He does go, but had a terrible jump, he's nailed, to retire the side.

Had to try and score somehow, and Texas doesn't. Tied 2-2, bottom of twelve.

Marlow stays in to pitch the Kansas twelfth.

Protacio leads off lefty, in the nine hole.
A full count and he lines out to third, on a leap by Boswell.

Wright bats righty, with one down, at the top of the order once more.
A high pop to second is two down.

McKay bats righty, with two outs.
He K's swinging, to retire the side in order.

    Twelve played and tied 2-2.

Villines will stay and pitch the thirteenth.

Johnson leads off right handed, as he was up, when Gurwitz was nailed on the steal attempt.
He K's swinging, for the third time.

Shaw bats lefty, with one away.
He also K's swinging, on a high fast ball.

Hinojosa bats righty, with two away.
He lines a single to right, for a runner and his third hit of the game.

Cantu bats righty, with one on and two gone.
A liner that goes off the glove of the first baseman and into right field puts two on.

Barrera bats righty, with two on and two outs.
A ground ball to second goes 4-3, to retire the side.

This gets to be unbelievable after awhile.

    Bottom of thirteen, tied 2-2.

Marlow continues to work, in the thirteenth.

    McLauglin leads off, batting righty.
He takes a fast ball, on the outside corner, for a called strike three.

Tinsley bats lefty, with one away.
He skies a ball to center and it's two gone.

Beck bats righty, with two outs.
He K's swinging to end the inning.

Texas can't score against the bad pitching of Kansas and Kansas can't score against the good pitching of Texas. The stalemate results in a tie at 2-2, after thirteen.

Villines, just keeps going, as the fourteenth is here.

Marlow bats lefty, to lead off.
A full count and he walks, for a lead runner.

Clemens up again lefty, after pinch hitting.
He bunts and the second baseman fields and can't make the transfer, to his throwing hand and the E-4 puts two on.

Pitching coach out and he leaves him in.

Boswell bats lefty, with two on.
He squares and the sac bunt goes 1-3, as the runners advance.

Gurwitz bats righty, with runners at second and third, and one down.
Got to have some contact here and the infield has come in.
A come backer and the 1-3 is two gone, as the first baseman was just able to keep his toe on the bag, on a high throw.
    Runners have to hold.

Johson now needs a hit to score a run, with two on and two down.
A slow roller to short and the shortstop charges and throws and Johnson just beats the throw, with his speed.
    The run scores.

    Texas leads 3-2.

Runners on the corners, for Shaw, batting lefty, with two outs.
Johnson goes and there is no throw.
Shaw is walked intentionally to load the bases.

Hinojosa up righty, with the bases loaded and two down.
    He has three hits tonight.
He K's swinging, to end the frame.

Texas doesn't get a batted ball out of the infield, yet takes the lead 3-2, to the bottom of the the fourteenth.

Marlow will stay in and try to get a win for the Horns and himself.
Clemens goes to first, from the DH slot.

Afenir leads off lefty against him.
He walks on four pitches, to put the tying run aboard.

Moroney bats righty, with the tying run at first.
He bunts and the sac goes 1-3, as the runner moves up.

Pinch hitter Owen Taylor, bats lefty, with one on and one out.

Skip out and a lefty is summoned.

    Pitching change.

Freshman lefty, Jon Malmin, is the new Horn pitcher.

He faces lefty pinch hitter, Owen Taylor, with the tying run at second and one away.
Taylor is a switch hitter, so he now bats right handed.
He takes a big hook, that bends in for a called strike three and two down.

Protacio, the nine hole hitter bats lefty, with the tying run at second, with two outs.
The count runs full and a ground ball to third goes 5-3, to end the game finally.

Texas wins 3-2, breaking a six extra inning game losing streak.
I need a break badly, be back in a few.

I think I am going to shed a small tear for my Horns...Unbelievable!!! They finally won an extra inning game. Hopefully something to build on. Sure need a sweep here.

Texas wins and they had to have it, but it really doesn't feel much like a win. The same problems were still present, still can't produce runs, pitching overworked and taxed to the limit, and tons of strike outs on bad pitches by the Horn hitters.

A double play got Texas out of a seemingly hopeless situation, in the eleventh, then the Horns finally score the winning run on a walk, error, and Johnson drives the winning run home on a slow roller, that he just beat out, with his tremendous speed. Kansas threw two pitchers, with a combined era of almost 9.00. They kept shutting the Horns down and you wondered how long the Texas pitchers could hang on.

Now the schedule has been changed, to a double header tomorrow, starting at 1 pm, because of possible bad weather. My fingers are screaming at the thought of two tomorrow and during the Orange-White football game.

Hey we won, but there is a long way to go for this team to reach a regional. Two more wins tomorrow would be a good start. :hookem2::bevo:

We burned through a lot of pitching in Game one. I don't know how many of these guys can come back tomorrow.

Odds of a sweep seem to much. I am hoping for two of three.

    Thanks NB, another great job.

I can't believe the Horns have a winning record in conference play. Amazingly enough, a sweep would keep us in contention for first. Surely, I jest.

NB, to save time and keyboard wear you could just copy and paste the same thread for every game. Just change the opponent name and last post showing the final and no one would probably figure it out!
