Vic sure feels Wednesday is a big game. He’s feeling…..as I do…..some animosity towards them. It sure a disappointment for all us. As he’s said, letting KU snd Tech beat us at home was a watershed event this season. I think he’s using that as motivation in practice today and through game Wednesday. KU is not a patsy anymore. It’ll take a huge effort and playing well. There is a sense that IF we bear KU that the Okie Light game will allow finish off the season well positioned for B12 Tourney and The Dance.
It’s a big game and a must win (for me) as a loss could hurt NCAA seeding. Kansas is a projected #9 seed in the NCAA’s and face Texas and then end the regular season at OU and currently on a two game losing streak (Baylor & ISU). The schedule Gods blessed them with the most difficult schedule possible. I bet Texas will come out focused and I hope Audrey & Gaston are 100%
Schaefer said neither team is the same as when played first one. I hope so. I know we’ve gotten better. And KU is playing pretty good based on scores. All I remember about the first game was that our pressure defense was much less effective. I remember them having quick guards that Harmon’s pressure didn’t cause them to fall apart. I don’t remember the 6’-6” aircraft carrier that Schaefer described. I’m a little anxious about the game as well.
Never let facts get in the way of a good story. However, this time I went back and looked at the first game box score. It was an OT game. Both teams had 23 turnovers. KU shot the ball much better than we did. Warren played 40 minutes and had 7 turnovers. Holle snd Lattimore barely played. I don’t think we’ll have 23 turnovers again. I don’t think Warren will have 7 again. I still think it’ll be tight to the end.
Wasn't the KU home game the one where the KU guards drove the paint and shot layups most of the game?
Just need to finish at the rim. Too many times we are able to get to the basket, which is great, but we can’t convert those “easier” shots too often.
We're playing ok, but can't make a basket. It's tough when Matharu is off like this. Hunter makes a cool, difficult shot and immediately gets taken out.
As mentioned above, we can't make a basket (mostly). Even so, we are in this game. A better shooting half and we get a W.
They are just horrible and the ref you’re speaking about can’t keep up with the speed of this game and he either misses calls or isn’t in position to make the right call.
He should be forced to retire. He's been reffing since the 90s. He calls fouls when he's tired and out of breath so he can catch his breath. There is no consistency or competency to any of his officiating.
My gosh, if you told me Kansas would have over 20 points at the free throw line, I wouldn't have believed it. The refs are really affecting the outcome of this game!
Yeah the foul disparity will even out if you only look at the final box score but it was still YIKES.
OMG! I’m so tired of worrying about this game (weeks)! Whew! Overcame some really questionable reffing and gutted this one out! I would not be thrilled to see this as a 4/5 matchup in KC Let’s pack The Drum Saturday, I’m driving in from Dallas to add my voice to the decibels
Every road win seems to come down to toughness. Glad we're showing it. This 7 game winning streak is helping with the team's confidence; they need it going into the post-season. Hoping to make it 8 in a row on Saturday afternoon.
It’s sad how easily the refs can take you out of the game and then turn around and suddenly put you right back in. That inconsistency is inexcusable. We started the 4th quarter -19 (trips) to the line. We ended -3. Thank god our ladies kept their composure and played through it.
Did anyone else notice our poor shooting in the 1st half? We can whine about the refs, but that's going to be a constant. We sucked it up in the 2nd half, even with some foul trouble. A great victory on the other team's court.
