The third game of the series sees Texas needing to take care of business and get the sweep. Kansas State is not good and this is the best chance Texas will probably have for a road sweep. This is an opportunity for the Horns to get on a bit of a roll and get back to and maybe over the .500 level.

This is as bad I believe as the Big 12 has ever been in baseball, that I can remember. It's giving Texas the chance to recover, after a bad start to the season.

The game can again be seen here

Too close for comfort, but we've gotten out of some jams thus far and hopefully will continue with strong pitching from Johnston and his pen. Tough out to finish the 5th. You didn't answer yesterday, NB, but is Skip off 3rd to focus more on the pitchers?

I have heard nobody say why the change at third base coaching was made, as of yet.

I don't understand why T Nick is back at 3rd. We tried that before and it was a major failure. I know he wants time there for career development, but this team cannot afford such a luxury.

Cantu was out by a mile and T Nick clearly waived him home. No miscommunication.

Travis Duke comes in as nearly always to face lefty batters, the senior left hander, for the Horns.

He faces lefty hitting Michael Smith, at the bottom of the order, one on and one gone.
It could be Duke's only batter, with the righty on deck.
A liner to right and it drops and Smith keeps going and that surprised Gurwitz, Smith gets in ahead of the tag, it's ruled a double and puts two on.

Here comes Skip and Duke is pulled, pitching change.

Shugart, who got out of the lasting inning jam, stays in to pitch the Wildcat eighth, he has been pitching very well lately, he need to keep that up now.

A ground ball up the middle and it's off the glove of Gurwitz, far enough that the run scores, on the single.

A liner to left is a single and the runner was held up at third. The runner from first rounded second way to far and Texas had him in a rundown. Then the runner came home from third, but Barrera had the tag on the runner, he turned and one hopped a throw home and the run scores, on the botched play.

He's within reach for a tag and you call him off for a POSSIBLE play 120 feet away.

That is typical of this team and its mind set.
