Good Friday everybody and what better weekend for Texas and their bats to rise up and play well. On a four game slide, they better, or things could get tough, as the harder part of the schedule has arrived in conference play. First up is a three game set in Stillwater, against an OSU team that took two of three from the then #1 ranked Horn Frogs of TCU. Texas needs two of three in the worst way, but at minimum one game. This is probably the pivotal game with your ace, on the mound.

Parker French will get the ball for Texas and after a rare bad outing, at least for him, looks to get back on track. There is no television tonight, but the next two games are on ESPNU. The audio is on Texassports, unless softball delays it.

    Off for lineups.

Perrin, is a big righty on the mound for OSU.

No sound has come up on the video.

Marlow leads off for the horns, from the left side.
He pops to short for one away.

Joe Baker, starts at short in an effort for more offense, instead of Hinojosa.
He grounds back to the mound for a 1-3 out two.

Johnson bats righty with two down.
He grounds to second on hot shot, but handled to retire the side in order.

Texas gets nothing and OSU comes to bat.

French is out to start the game for Texas. The right hander is the ace of the Texas staff.

The second baseman for OSU is Tim Arakawa, batting lefty.
A ground ball to Baker is backhanded and his first play is good for a 6-3 out one.

Connor Costello, the Cowboy right fielder, bats right handed.
He walks on four pitches to reach, for the first base runner of the game.

The catcher is Gage Green, batting lefty with one one and one down.
A grounder to the mound and French knocks it down and it's a 1-6 force at second for two away.

The shortstop is Donnie Walton, with two gone and one one.
The lefty hitter steps in and the runner is off and the throw hits him and allows to steal the bag.
The throw was on time it looked like.
A full count and another walk puts two on.

Dustin Williams, the first baseman bats lefty, with two on and two down.
A big curve ball gets him looking and the side is retired.

French had some control problems, but gets out of it and it's 0-0, after one played

Perrin is back out for the second inning for OSU, on the hill.

Shaw leads off, from the lefty side.
He flies to left center on the first pitch to the center fielder, who has it for one down.

Barrera bats righty with one gone.
The Texas catcher takes a fast ball on the outside corner for a called third strike and two gone.

Cantu, at DH, bats righty with two away.
A roller back to the mound goes 1-3 and the Horns go in order once more.

Texas bats still struggle and to the bottom of two nothing across.

French back out for his second inning of work.

The OSU center fielder is Corey Hassel, batting righty, leading off.
A shot by Clemens at first, is a single and the first hit.

Kevin Bradley, is the DH, batting lefty, with one on.
The count goes full and a long drive is deep to right and gone for a two run homer.
He got the fast ball, he was looking for and the wind is blowing out to right, but it was well hit.

    OSU leads 2-0.

Skip goes out to talk to French and now returns.

Ryan Sluder, bats righty, and plays left field.
A ground ball to short and the 6-3 is one down.

Jacob Chappell, plays third and bats from the right side with one away.
Another full count and a fly ball to center is two gone.

Arakawa will bring the top of the order again, with two outs.
He bats lefty and on another full pitch, he walks, for a two out runner.
Another steal attempt is probably coming.

Costello, bats righty with one on and two away.
He does go and Barrera from his knees, nails him with a perfect strike to second, to retire the side.

OSU takes the lead on the homer and Texas needs to get something going, as they trail 2-0, after two.

John Perrin, back to the bump in the third.

Boswell, the third baseman, bats lefty and leads off.
He K's swinging for one away.

Clemens will bat lefty, with one gone.
A ground ball up the middle and the second baseman has it on a slide, but his footing went out from under him. So no play and it's an infield hit, for Texas's first safety.

Gurwitz, bats righty, in the nine hole, with one on and one down.
He lines a ball righty by the pitcher's head and into center for a single to put two on.

Marlow back to the plate, from the lefty side, with two on.
He lines a one hopper to left center for a single and for some reason Clemens doesn't read it and he holds up and only goes to third. The bases are loaded, but Clemens should have scored easily there. That had no chance of being caught.

Baker, the freshman, bats righty, with the bases loaded and one out.
Have to do some damage here.
The count runs full and a big pitch in the game here.
He swings and misses for a K, but the ball gets away for a passed ball and a run.

    OSU leads 2-1.

Ben Johnson, the big slugger for the Horns, has a chance to put Texas ahead with a hit.
He flies to right and that retires the side.

Texas only scores because of a passed ball, just can't get the big hit.

OSU leads 2-1 to the bottom of three.

French comes back out and needs to hold the fort for Texas, in the OSU third.

Costello, leads off from the right side, for OSU.
He K's swinging for one down.

Green bats lefty with one down.
He lines a shot down the line in left and the throw by Johnson to second, is just late. It's a one out double.

Walton bats with one on and one down.
The left handed hitter grounds one to the hole and Baker has it and throws against his body for a sparkling second out.
    He can really pick it.

Williams bats lefty with two, outs and one on.
He sends a long drive to center and Gurwitz goes back and turns and makes the catch as he tumbles to the turf.
That retires the side on another good defensive play.

Three played and OSU leads 2-1.

Perrin works the fourth for OSU.

Shaw leads off, from the left side.
A full count and he walks on a high and outside fast ball.

Barrera bats righty for the second time with one on.
He bunts and then he is ruled to have touched the ball in fair territory and is out. Teh runner has to return to first.
That plays goes 2U on interference. Augie argues, but it was the right call.

Cantu, bats righty with, one out.
Shaw may just try and steal second now.
He goes and the pitch is dropped and it's a stolen base.
He K's swinging on the fast ball and that moves nobody.

Two outs for Boswell, and the lefty hitter needs a clutch hit, to tie the game.
He walks to put two on.

Clemens now needs the clutch job to tie or put Texas ahead.
The lefty hitter bats with two on and two gone.
He also whiffs and it's the same old story, as the side is down.

Texas just can't get it done, when they need to again, so OSU leads 2-1 to the bottom of four.

French back to the bump, for the OSU half of the fourth.

Hassel leads off right handed against him.
A full count once more and he chases a low slider for a K and one gone.

Bradley bats lefty with one out.
His two run homer is the the reason OSU leads.
A big hook gets him looking, and it's two gone.

Sluder will bat right handed with two down.
A ground ball to third and Boswell boots it for a E-5 to put a runner on.

Chappell bats also righty, with one on and two gone.
A throw to first is called a balk and out comes Augie again.
It moves the runner to scoring position.
A liner to left and Johnson comes in hard and makes a sliding catch to retire the side. Nice play there.

    OSU leads 2-1 after four.

    NBHorn7 Pimp Daddy

Perrin still in pitching in the fifth.

Gurwitz, at the bottom of the order, leads off righty.
A high pop up is caught by the second base bag, by the shortstop for one out.

Marlow bats lefty with one away.
A ground ball to short is off the glove and booted to center, they call it an error, but that was a bad hop hit. Yes, I played a lot of infield, but it really was a bad hop hit.

One on and one down, for the shortstop Baker, batting right handed.
He is hit by an inside pitch to put two on.

Johnson back, up with a chance to do some damage, batting righty, with two on and one away.
Got to happen sometime, doesn't it? He's your best hitter by a large margin.
Pitching coach out and now returns and Johnson steps in.
A ground ball to second is a 4-3 out as the runners move up on the slow grounder.

Shaw up with two in scoring position and two away.
The lefty hitter could put the Horns ahead with an outfield hit.
He chases an outside change up and it's still Ground Hog Day for the Horns. The K retires the side and strands two more in scoring position.

OSU leads 2-1 halfway through the opening game of the series.

French tries to keep the Horns close in the OSU fifth.

Arakawa leads off lefty, at the top of the Cowboy order.
He takes a big change that, drops in the zone, for a called K and one away.

Costello, the righty hitting right fielder, bats with one gone.
A full count and a ground ball to the hole on the left side, Baker has it and his long, against the body throw is just late.
    It's an infield hit.

Green up lefty, with one one and one gone.
A throw to first is called balk again.
Skip out and wonders what is going on. Different calls from different umps.
He goes to the mound too and now returns to the first base dugout, from which he came.
Green back in finally and has a runner in scoring position now.
He goes for a high hard one and K's for two gone.

Walton bats with two outs and one on.
The lefty hitting shortstop grounds a ball up the middle and Baker boots it, the runner from second rounds third and falls down. So he picks it up and fires to third to get him 6-5 and retire the side. It's still an error on Baker though.

So that weird play keeps the score 2-1, after five played.

Perrin leads the charmed life, against struggling Horn bats in the sixth.

Barrera leads off righty and grounds out to third 5-3, for one gone.

Cantu bats also from the right side with one down.
A fly ball to right and the wind carries it to the base of the wall, where it's caught for two away.

Boswell bats lefty, with two down.
Another full count and another swing and a miss, for yet another K, to retire the side in order.

No drama that inning, just nothing doing and OSU leads 2-1, to the bottom of six.

French is done and the new pitcher is left hander, Ty Culbreth.
French threw a lot of pitches, but settled down, hope he is not injured.

Williams, a lefty hitter leads off against Culbreth.
He walks him and that is not a good start.

Hassel bats righty, with one on.
He fouls off two bunt attempts.
Then he gets it down and Boswell, just nips him at first and the sac goes 5-3.

Bradley back up lefty, his two run homer is standing up so far.
He bats with one on and one down.
The count goes full, as Ty can't get the big curve to break in against lefty hitters.
This one does nip the outside corner, and the called third strike is two gone.

Sluder bats right handed, with two down and one on.
A ground ball goes into left field and Johnson comes up throwing and the runner is a dead duck at the plate. The 7-2 put out retires the side.

OSU leads 2-1 after six played.

Perrin still around, as the seventh begins.

Clemens up lefty, to lead off.
He lines a single to center and here we go again.

Gurwitz up righty, in the nine hole.
He bunts and the catcher fields and throws low to first, it's dug out on a good scoop, for a 2-3 sac.

Marlow up once more, with a chance to tie the game.

Coach out and a change is made.

The new OSU hurler is Tyler Nurdin, a big lefty.

He faces Marlow, batting lefty, with one on and one out.
He chases a low slider in the dirt, the catcher completes the 2-3 out and the K.

Baker up, with the tying run at second and two gone.
So the coach is out to get a right hander in to face him.

    Pitching change.

  24. NBHorn7

    NBHorn7 Pimp Daddy

Tyler Buffett, is that right hander for OSU.

    Baker in righty against him.
Law of averages certainly favor the Horns by now.
Tying run at second and two outs.
Well he lines a single to right on a hop and out of desperation I guess they sent the slow Clemens. He was out by I say, about ten feet and then got flipped by the catcher on his back to boot.

They stretch in Stillwater and OSU still leads 2-1. I used my powers and got the hit, but I can't run for them

Culbreth back for the seventh for Texas.

Chappell leads off and bunts and it's a 1-3 first out on a close play.

Arakawa, at the top of the order, bats lefty with one out.
He pops out to third for two gone.

Costello will bat right handed, with two gone.
He lines a drive to Johnson on a line, to retire the side for the first time in order.

OSU leads 2-1 after seven gone.

Buffett is back to pitch the eighth for the Cowboys.

    Johnson bats righty, leading off.
He grounds a single through the hole on the left side.

We try again to tie the game at least.

Shaw up lefty, with one on.

Coach now wants a lefty most likely to face him.

    Pitching change.

  29. NBHorn7

    NBHorn7 Pimp Daddy

Alex Hackerott, is indeed a lefty, in for the Pokes. Sounds like some of our hacks by the Horns.
Green comes in from left to catch now.

Shaw up and I guess to bunt, batting lefty.
A 2-0 count and I hope we take a strike now.
He does and it's 3-0 now. I would take two and run on the full count.
He bunts 3-0 and I can't believe that, then the pitcher bobbles it twice and he reaches on the E-1. It was ball four by the way.

Coach out and another change, this game is getting strange.
