Kyle Bagnell, is the OSU lefty to the hill.

Will they pinch hit for Clemens now? Does he try the safety squeeze?
In this game, who knows, not even the Shadow. I'm old, google the Shadow.

Taylor Stell, does pinch hit for Clemens, from the right side.
Put the ball in play please Stell.
He doesn't and that kills you, a swinging K, for two gone.

Up to Gurwitz now and a hit is required, unless a miscue from OSU, scores the lead run.
The right handed nine hole hitter steps in with two gone and the lead run still on third.
He hits a long drive to right that is caught on the track to retire the side.

The strike out hurts and to the bottom of twelve tied 3-3.

I know that Coach has won a thousand or so more games at this level than me, but I sure hate that dang bunt of the runner from 2nd to 3rd...

So Duke returns for the twelfth for Texas.

Arakawa, the lead off hitter bats lefty, against him.
A high pop by the right side of the mound is taken by Marlow for one gone.

    Costello up again right handed.
Duke ends his streak of outs by hitting him with a pitch.

Green bats lefty, with the winning run on first and one out.
A fly ball to shallow center is two down.

Walton bats from the right side, with one on and two outs.
Skip comes to the mound with a 2-1 count and I wonder what was up there, maybe just concentrate on the hitter.
A walk puts the winning run in scoring position and two on.

Hagler bats with two on and two down.
Skip out and he wants a righty to face him.

    Pitching change.

Kyle Johnston is the new pitcher and you hope he has his control, that has plagued him most of the year. He is a freshman right hander.

Hagler steps in righty against him, with two on and two outs.
He walks him on four pitches to load the bases.
I don't think I can take losing this game on two straight walks.

Hassel bats with the base loaded and two outs, from the right side.

Skip doesn't want to lose on a Johnston walk and pulls him.

    Pitching change.

Very happy about the pitching change (at least I hope I end up being happy about it). I got a sinking feeling when they brought in Johnston and I was worried that he was going to walk in the winning run.

Edit: Haha NBHorn7 and I posted at the same time about fearing a loss on a Johnston walk! Obviously the coaches see something in this kid and he is a freshman so I hope he improves of the course of his UT career!

    with two out
    Hi Worster,

My friend, Jim, had been a coach, and after he retired, he went to virtually EVERY Texas baseball practice at the Disch starting with Augie's first year in Austin -- and certainly he attended all the games there. We sat in the first row just to the right of the Texas dugout. He had some plastic K's that he hung on the screen each game. After maybe six or seven years of his attending all those practices, Augie came over to the stands where Jim was sitting, and said to him: "When I was at Cal State Fullerton, there was an elderly man who attended every practice for probably ten years with his little dog, just like you do. He was so incredibly loyal like you, and you know, I never, ever talked with that man. I think about him often and very much regret that I never even recognized his incredible allegiance. I hope by recognizing your attendance at all these practices, I can somehow make up for that."

I do love that man's awareness. There must be something to Zen Buddhism.

Whew. Bases loaded with two out and Texas gets a ground ball to short.

Im really glad McKenzie came back and got the out because my reaction to his first pitch which was very low and outside was "OH LORD." (my confidence in our relief pitching is not high)

Another Freshman right hander is Jake McKenzie in to try to keep the game going.

Hassel steps in to face him, with the bases loaded and two away.
A ground ball to short and Baker makes the play and OSU leaves them loaded.

Thirteenth is coming tied at 3-3.

  11. NBHorn7

    NBHorn7 Pimp Daddy

Bagnell is pitching the thirteenth for OSU.

Marlow leads off, batting lefty, at the top of the order.
A long fly ball to right goes to the track and is caught for one down.

Baker bats righty, with one down.
He takes a fast ball on the inside corner and that's two gone.

Johnson bats with two down, right handed.
Oh for a long ball, says the would be Harry Carey.
It's a base hit through the hole on the left side.
He should attempt to steal again.

Shaw up lefty and a gapper would put the Horns ahead with the speed Johnson has.
A high pop down the line in right is snagged by the second baseman, to end the frame.

Bottom of thirteen and tied at 3-3.

    ---------------

    Boston College?

I remember after the 13th inning against Boston College in 2009, knowing that Denise only goes to about five games per year at the Disch, and baseball always took a poor second to football as her favorite sport, I turned to her and said, "If you would like to leave, I can take you home and come back." She said she would stay.

She did stay -- the whole 25 innings and the 7 hours+. And Texas won, 3 -2.

Come on, Texas. Make it a shortened version of the Boston College game. Please.

McKenzie out to pitch the thirteenth, as game tracker blew up in the twelfth and won't load any more on Chrome.

Littell bats right handed, to lead off for the Cowboys.
The count runs full and a late swing single, through the right side, puts the winning run on.

Case up righty to bunt most likely, with one on.
The bunt is down and the 1-3 sac moves the runner to second, with one out.

Chappell is the nine hole hitter, from the right side, with one on and one down.
Skip is out with a hook.

    Pitching change.

The new Texas pitcher is right hander, Ty Marlow, he throws strikes, but sometimes grooves pitches.

Chappell faces him with the winning run on second and one out.
He blows a fast ball upstairs by him for a K and two down.

Arakawa is the lefty hitting lead off man, with the winning run on second and two outs.
The count goes full and he walks him to put two on and set up a force at any base.

Costello up righty and that is why maybe Marlow, didn't mind walking the lefty hitter.
A little liner to short ends the inning and I think the millionth man left on base in the game.

Where are we? I think the fourteenth now, tied at 3-3.

Tres picked off at second. Honestly sounds like we're trying to give it away at this point, base running has been abysmal

Appreciate your playbyplay NB, as usual. I hate these long pauses between innings. Short is good when we are on defense.

Bagnell pitches the fourteenth for OSU.

Barrera leads off right handed for Texas.
A soft liner served to center, is a lead single.

Jones, the DH, is up to bunt.
He lays it down and the pitcher starts to let the catcher handle it, then picks it up and hits Jones in the back on the throw. They call it a hit, but it was an error, a good throw gets him.

Boswell up lefty to bunt also, with two on.
The catcher picks Barrera off second and another big base running rock hurts the Horns.
    One down for Boswell now.
He K's swinging for I believe the fifth time now and two away.
The base running mistake, just kills the inning.

Ty Marlow bats right handed, with now two away and one on.
His first at bat of the season.
A slow roller toward the hole at short and it's an infield hit, oh that base running rock.

Gurwitz bats with two on and two outs, from the right side.
A ground ball to third and a high throw to first pulls the first baseman off the bag on the E-5.

Brooks Marlow can put Texas ahead, by reaching safely somehow now.
He bats lefty, with the bases loaded and two outs.
Of course he K's swinging, to end the frame.

Bottom of fourteen and tied 3-3.

Ty Marlow pitches the fourteenth for the Horns.

Leading off for OSU is lefty hitting, Gage Green.
A high pop goes to left and Johnson and Baker look at each other and it drops for a lead hit.
I think I saw this in the loss last Tuesday. Should have been caught.

Walton bats with one on, from the left side.
He's not bunting and he K's swinging for one down.
    Strange game.

Hagler bats righty with one on and one down.
He hits him and that puts the winning run at second and two on.

Hassel bats right handed, with two on and one away.
A one hopper to the mound and two men are on second to cover and it screws up the double play attempt.
The 1-6 is two down and what else can happen?

Two outs and runners on the corners for righty hitter, Littel.
The runner at first goes and there is no throw, on defensive indifference.
He K's swinging on a low breaker and it keeps going.

We played fifteen in Lincoln and now we do the same in Stillwater, tied at 3-3.

Bagnell still pitches in the fifteenth for the Pokes.

Baker leads off for the Horns.
The righty hitter and the count is worked full.
He K's swinging on a curve well out of the zone, for one down.
We swing at so many bad pitches.

Johnson up righty, with one away.
He takes strike three, on the outside corner for two down.
That must be about 20 strike outs.

Shaw bats lefty, with two gone.
A pop to short ends the frame in order.

Bottom of fifteen and still 3-3.

Marlow will work the fifteenth for Texas.

Case, the catcher leads off for the Pokes, from the right side.
A hard hit one hopper to second is knocked down, picked up and the 4-3 is one away.

Chappell, bats right handed, in the nine hole, with one gone.
A full count again and he takes a fast ball on the inside corner for a K and two down.

Arakawa bats lefty, with two outs.
A liner to right is a hit and Shaw has it and falls down and that makes it a double.
Things just keep happening and the winning run is at second with two gone.

Costello up righty, with one on and two down.
He one hops one back to the mound and the 1-3 retires the side.

We go one better than Lincoln and maybe we can win one these type games.
    Tied 3-3 to the sixteenth.

Hassel comes in from center field to pitch now for OSU and it's come to this.
Anybody that can pitch must go.
Multiple defensive changes are made too.

Barrera leads off for the Horns, from the right side.
A fly ball to center is one down.

Jones hits righty, with one away.
He swings right through a fast ball for two down.

Boswell up lefty, with two down.
He takes a called strike three, for his fifth K of the game.

Down in order and the bottom of the sixteenth is next, tied 3-3.

Marlow keeps going on the bump for Texas.

Green leads off lefty, for the Cowboys.
He K's swinging for one gone.
The K bug infects OSU now too.

Walton bats lefty now, as the switch hitter faces a right hander again.
With one down he sends a fly ball to the edge of track and Shaw has it for two outs.

Hagler bats with two away, right handed.
A high pop to second is caught by B. Marlow to retire the side in order.

I hurt Seth. We all hurt Joe Bob. This North Dallas Forty moment describes me right now.

    Tied 3-3 to the seventeenth.

We're pretty good at getting singles. I wonder how many we now, the game tracker is down. We have to have a lot.

Also, the okie state stadium audio guy has definitely gotten to the bottom of his music list.

Hassel pitches the seventeenth for OSU.

Ty Marlow, the Horn pitcher, bats righty to lead off
He K's swinging for one gone.

Gurwitz bats righty with one down.
A grounder to second goes 4-3 for two away.

Texas can't get anybody on base now.

Marlow up with two down, from the left side.
He singles up the middle, to finally put a Horn on again.

Baker, bats righty with one on and two outs.
A wild pitch and it puts Marlow on second.
A hit could put Texas ahead, dare we to dream that.
Of course not, as a ground ball to second ends the frame.

Tied at 3-3, to the bottom of seventeen.

The Okie State announcers said Texas has 19 hits.

And their lead announcer is sounding weary and made a comment that made it obvious that he's ready to go home to wifey.

Only six innings until Boston College . . . .

Come on, Texas, end this on a positive note for all four Texas fans still listening to this game . . . .

Marlow back out again in the seventeenth.

Hassel, the OSU pitcher bats righy now leading off.
Two pitchers batting for themselves in a college game, when did that happen last.
He flies out to left for one away.

Littel bats righty, with one down.
A ground ball to short and after a bit of a fumble the the 6-3 is made on a close play.

Case bats with two gone, from the right side.
A single through the left side puts the winning run on.

Chappell, in the nine hole, bats for like the ninth time, from the right side.
He has one on and two outs.
A full count and the runner is off on the pitch from first.
He walks to put two on and the winning run at second.

Arakawa is up lefty, from the left side with two on and two down.

Skip out and he wants a lefty.

    Pitching change.
