^Good grief! That's a lot of runs. Hope the bats can keep it up - but there will come a time somewhere in the season where the team will need to win a game 2-1 or 3-2 - the opposing SEC teams will have some quality pitchers, and runs would be hard to score. Need the pitching and defense to perform to a high standard so those low-scoring games can go into the "W" column.
 
Missing from this (D1) Top 25 list is Kentucky. I think they are deserving.

That team can swing the bat.

A lot of the SEC schools play schools who have 4-acre campuses, which bloats their record. Not saying that SEC schools aren’t good or deserved to be ranked, but a lot of it is propaganda, just like we saw with football.

I like our strategy of playing some good teams on the road in tournaments, then playing mostly average, middle of the road, mid-major types, with a few weak sisters (but not too many).

If the internal UT system politics will allow for it, I'd drop our home games with the various UT satellite schools. Instead, I'd use those slots for road games for recruiting. And where do we traditionally recruit the best out-of-state? Southern California. So, in addition to the tournaments and lots of home games, in the pre-conference time, we should be on the road against teams like UCSB, CSUN, UCLA, USC, Long Beach St., Cal State Fullerton, San Diego St, UC-Irvine, Loyola of L.A., etc. We have a strong baseball recruiting foothold in California. Best to capitalize on it.

Also, it's good to show up in Houston and DFW from time to time, so UH, Rice, Houston Baptist, TCU, UNT, DBU, UTA would make for good road games.

11 teams made the field of 64 last year, 5 made the super regionals, 4 made the world series and it was an all SEC championship series. I'd be hard pressed to see any propaganda there.

I think 1-2 years before last season, SEC teams flamed out big time in the tourney.

Not sure how far to go with this, but besides last year here are some previous years. The last five CWS champions have been five different SEC teams. Three of the last four championship series have been an all SEC matchup. About half the CWS participants are SEC teams and at least 10 different SEC teams have been in the CWS the last 5 years it was played. I agree that football is mostly lore and reputation (all hat and just a couple cattle) but that baseball conference is brutal.

2023 - 3 SEC teams in CWS, LSU beat Florida in the championship series
2022 - 4 SEC teams in CWS, Ole Miss won it all
2021 - 3 SEC teams in CWS, Miss State beat Vanderbilt in the championship series
2020 - cancelled for covid
2019 - 4 SEC teams in CWS, Vanderbilt won it all


EDIT: 2018 was the last time an SEC team hasn't won it all, but they had 3 teams in and Arkansas lost the championship series against Oregon State. That makes 8 different teams making the championship series in the past 6 series. 2016 was the last time an SEC team wasn't in the championship series with the Chanticleers of Coastal Carolina beating Arizona to win it all. Impressive.

Divide their numbers by 14. For B12, divide by 9 (before the conference was expanded). Makes a huge difference.

Aggy dropped todays game to New Mexico State 4-1. That victory kept NMSU above .500 for the season meanwhile aggy fell to 9-6.

That was a legit championship level team last year
Did they graduate a bunch of their best players?
 
Aggy has set a historic record to put in their trophy room. No team has ever been ranked number one and fallen out of the top 25 so fast. Coaching matters.
 
I remember their position on Coach Schloss at the time of his departure was along the lines of "oh hes not all that and we are better off with Coach so-and-so."
