This is what you do when you're thrown into a situation coaching someone else's players. It's great, and is great coaching, but it's not what you ultimately shoot for. You have to imagine that the coaches have a target in mind and wouldn't just say "We'll invite the top 25 ranked players in Texas to sign every year and figure out how to run a team once they show up." Of course that's absurd, but if they're ranking and evaluating players, they have to have criteria they value over others.
