Aside from knowledge worker jobs, corporate America booned due to globalism. Yes, even those same manufacturing companies that automated workers out of jobs benefited greatly. That's why the "we were screwed" chants ring hollow. Simply put, if your desire 8s only to protect a certain type of worker than you too are socialist. Overall, the US benefitted from global trade as we led the charge. Trading also had a strong benefit in national security with our trading partners Btw- it wasn't just labor that was cheaper but materials too.

It's naive to think trade associations weren't key participants in the trade deals. In other words, the market is the reason for global trade. Politicians and bureaucrats simply sign the deal.
