I'm pretty sure I just scared all of my neighbors.

Don't agree with the referee's decision there. Calling a foul on Algeria there seems to be a "makeup" for some of the harsh decisions that have gone against the U.S.

Group C is a wrap. Here are the final standings:

    Team ---------------- W/L/T ----- GS -- GA -- GD ---- PTS
    United States ________ 1 0 2 ______ 4 ___ 3 ___ +1 _____ 5
    England _____________ 1 0 2 ______ 2 ___ 1 ___ +1 _____ 5
    Slovenia _____________ 1 1 1 ______ 3 ___ 3 ____ 0 _____ 4
    Algeria ______________ 0 2 1 ______ 0 ___ 2 ___ -2 _____ 1

And there you have it--the first time the U.S. has finished unbeaten in World Cup group play in the modern era (and maybe ever). Still, our Yanks advanced by the skin of their teeth and couldn't have left it any later than Donovan's game-winning goal in the first minute of stoppage time.

Wow, I think I have World Cup fever!
The ref tossed that whiny Algerian *****. A ref can't let someone get in his face like that. He should have tossed bad hair guy, too.
Anyway, exciting finish to say the least. Way to go Donovan. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Algeria is less than a class act, they are less than worthy of respect. They proved this today. Go home.

Thanks, guys ... I couldn't watch (I'm at work) but I followed the game through this thread. I admit that, soccer hater that I am, my heart was speeding up as I read the posts. As time passed and things appeared more and more dire, I was almost starting to sweat. I was actually worried!

Then I saw we scored and subsequently held them, and I am happy that the US advances.

    Thanks, all!

The roar on the US side of the sportsbar I was at when the USA scored might have been heard throughout the entire Island. The bar was split half doing the England game the other the US. Incredible atmosphere.

Most dramatic goal in US soccer history even more than 1950 and 1989's shot heard round the world.

It's amusing how much drama I can feel watching ESPN updates on my phone while sitting through a company benefits meeting...

The most emotion I've ever felt seeing a goal. My shock and tremors have given way to a cool endorphin buzz.

    Unbelievable !!!

    Jubilation

I'm too stupid to figure out how to paste the image directly into the post, but I love this shot. Benny's expression in the background pretty much summed up my emotions.

A great day for U.S. Soccer...my heart is still racing.
