According to the Interim Dean of the University of Chicago Law School during 2001, where Barack Obama lectured, at about the time that Obama had supposedly received an offer of tenure, Obama was not a "Constitutional Law Professor" and he was never offered tenure. In fact, it appears that he was primarily focused on “public interest law” and courses on race. So much for the bio of Obama being a brilliant college professor.Obama has certainly done nothing to discourage the misleading idea that he is some sort of brilliant constitutional law expert, which it appears now that he actually isn't. Someone should ask Obama about this at an upcoming press conference. Too bad nobody bothered to adequately explore the matter during the 2008 campaign.

I was never under the impression that he was a tenured Prof. The term Prof is generally used these days. I have lectured at Michigan Law. I know how these things go. Obama did nothing improper here, the problem is with people like you, who clearly struggle with reason and elementary reading comprehension. No fan of Obama but this is ridiculous. Chicago is an elite school, on par with the Ivies in terms of prestige in the academic world. Unlike our own school, which is top 50. My whine? Everybody keeps talking as if people who went to those schools or teach/taught there are geniuses. How many times have we been told that Romney must be great because he got degrees from Harvard's Law and business schools? Or been told W was not the dyslexic half wit he appeared because he had degrees from Yale and Harvard business? Except for legacies, rich guys who can give money and minorities, most of the students who get in are real bright. So what? I've had several Harvards tell me that once you are in you have to kill a teacher or not take finals in order to get kicked out. OR get caught cheating, like Teddy Kennedy. Obama got in as a result of affirmative action would be my guess and that is why he doesn't want his grades revealed. He got hired at Chicago because they needed some black faces in the faculty and he had a degree from Harvard. As pointed out repeatedly, he never published anything anywhere. I read law reviews regularly and not one in ten says anything worth reading unless they are highly technical on very limited matters. Most of it is just junk to be able to say you got published. I like to read friends of the court briefs to the US Supreme Court. I have been reading the Fischer stuff lately because it involves UT. Some of it is really good but most is just paste up junk making arguments that are total stretches. Obama didn't even do that. His resume is impressive on first reading but all it really tells you is that he got taught by some first rate people. So did all of us who graduated from UT if we went to the trouble of picking the right teachers. I don't blame the righties for pointing out that his credentials have been hyped. They have.

From past news, including what the U of C put out, Obama was considered a professor; he was a lecturer (they are classified as profs there); lecturers are non-tenured. Lecturers are not on a tenure track, therefore he wouldn't have been offered tenure. Right? washu is absolutely correct.

That he displayed his love of the country that gave him so much by making sure that he took all available loop-holes to pay practically nothing in Taxes? Huisache, I would push back on your claim about lack of work for the University of Chicago undergrad population. Those students work their *** off all the time. It is an odd, fuzzy, and unkempt group to begin with and all the time spent hitting the books during the dark winters does not help the situation.
I think this resonate because of the oft noted vacant resume for our current President. I think most sane people are still in shock on how he went from a part-time State Senator who never really made waves to Illinois Senator to President in no time. He never really did anything prior to this besides some community organizing and hanging around a college campus as an adjunct prof.

DFWag: I didn't say they didin't work, I said they don't have to when they are admitted. I've never known anybody who was an undergrad at Chicago, just law students and neither of them were slackers. I have known two Harvards who told me they never worked hard, one Yale undergrad and one from Columbia. ANother Dartmouth undergrad told me lots of stories about how good the fishing was in New England but admitted to being a lazy student. I agree that graduating with high honors from Harvard law suggests he is smart and worked hard. The current article by Michael Lewis suggests he developed real good study habits and is very disciplined. NOne of that means you are properly equipped to be president. Jimmy Carter had a sterling academic career at a first rate engineering school and was in large measure a bust as president. And a lot of that was because he was so smart. Still not impressed with Romney or Obama as chief executive.
It's no problem, since the American people are about to grant Obama tenure (in the White House). Move along now.
Hookem123 if you ever go to a college graduation, look at the program. The program identifies graduates who are magna cum laude, cum laude and graduating with high honors. It's not a big secret, whether it's Harvard, or Tarrant County College.
