A second round of power conference realignment in as many years may be about to begin!

Here we go. All movement plans could be scuttled by a complete makeover of what is now the Power 5.

Texas and ou should rethink going into the lucrative but still a sewer that is the$EC.

I have to agree. Big 10 with USC and UCLA would be very interesting. Plus the chance to watch Nebraska fans cry again would be priceless. Can you imagine how butt hurt those whiners would be if we joined the Big 10!!

Not sure those two schools have the balls to do it.

Well, given the rate of gender fluidity in SoCal, I doubt they are sure if they have any balls either, nor if they do, what it might mean.

I think it is a done deal, as is our move to SEC.

Question: what does the Big 12 do in response? They could make a deal with the PAC to play each other regularly (at a decent hour) or if that doesn't work, they could try to pick up some PAC schools. Arizona's two schools would make sense, as would Utah, which would have a great conference rival with BYU. Forget about Colorado of course. Or the PAC might try to pick up some schools; SDSU needs consideration, but who else? I can't think of any Big 12 school that would want to drift over.

This is all headed in the direction of three big conferences and then the Big 12 and PAC.

    Something talks and something walks

    LC,

I have friends in the USC administration, and they have been fed up with the PAC for some time. UCLA is a stunner because they bring nothing to the table, and have always been tied to the mother ship.

The BigTen got shot down on the UVA/UNC offer when UNC said, "not without Duke". Delaney was on a timeline to get something close to NYC & DC, so he grabbed UMd and Rutgers, neither of which has a following, but the BigTen TV contract was based on TVs in the market not butts in seats.

I think oSu, Baylor, & TCU should be in Eugene pitching a move to the PAC.

I defer to your greater knowledge but what would the PAC find useful in any of them in terms of TV money? And if them, why not Tech?

Sorry, I meant to include Tech. Each is a more attractive member to TV and travel than any of the neverwas wannabes that the Big XII is bringing in.

I think the Big 10 would be a better idea for them along withTech, the PAC 12 is dead.

Not to mention the 11 AM kickoffs, when they are used to being in bed at that time.

The SEC might as well try to get Oklahoma State and TCU (or tech). Kinda like cheap property one buys playing monopoly.

Any smart Big 12 schools will look at options, though I wouldn't mind watching Tech vaporize.

Seriously, does this settle out as SEC, ACC, and B1G, as one tier with a crazy big revenue stream, then everybody else at the "amateur" tier? Like the NFL farm team conferences and the intramurals?

Or do the remains of the PAC 12 and Big 12 have enough between them to cobble together a single top tier conference?

I think the Big 12 has no choice now but to try to grab Texas teams, and they can't be too picky. Not sure if Oregon wants to stick around now.

    Its a crazy world.

Three of the four "desirables" in the ACC would have been admitted to the Big XII years ago if not for the incompetence of Bowelsby & NeinASS. They would likely jump to the SEC given the invite because they are still pissed off about Swofford's ridiculous expansion involving schools that are the football equivalent Eastern New Mexico.

Just saying that the ACC could very quickly turn into the North Carolina Conference.

Colorado must really being thinking 'we f'ed up.' Time for everyone to grab leftover Pac-12 schools.

Cal and Stanford letting in Baylor and TCU? I doubt that!

Colorado has to be pissed. Grabbed the PAC invite a day early to keep Baylor from getting their spot only to have UT back out and the rest follow suit. Now they've been dogplop in the PAC for a decade only to see two charter members bolt for the B1G! Now what do they do? No money. No interest. No home. Sucks to be them.

The whole conference thing needs to be blown up. (well on second thought it is already happening)

We Should go to 8-eight team mini-regional conferences (think of old Big 12 south) and then play 2-year round robin schedule with others. The winner of these 8-team conferences (playoff at end)) then advances to championship play-off.

It will be somewhat like the way things are going anyway. But not restrictive to same ole thing every year.

Still play natural rivals, but also region against region competition.

Travel isn't the hinderance it was in 1920! Time to rethink from ground up.

You know, like this internet thing made us all do.

Everybody other than the SEC needs to be acting today.

ACC: Beg ND to fully join.
Big 10: Tell ND they have a spot, but if they decline, the Big 10 will add others. Heavily consider Washington and Oregon. Tell UNC and Virginia they can come.
Big 12: Try to go to 16 with UA, ASU, Utah, and CU.
Pac 12: Try to grab some Big 12 teams or propose a merger for the first 20+ team conference, the "Big Pac-2x".
    ...
SEC: Do something anyway to go to 18 or 20.

Moves like this are why my interest in college football lessens as the days go by. It is getting watered down with few meaningful rivalries anymore.

Not that I give a crap about the Pac whatever, anyway, but seriously who cares about watching these teams play in the Big whatever the hell it's called?

The bemoaning around here about crappy conference opponents is funny. We all, for the most part I think, became Texas fans when the SWC or maybe the beginnings off the Big 12 existed. Why cry about the crappy opponents now? It's silly.
