To me UT always meant "THE UNIVERSITY" aggy means ........................I do not understand what they are!
Comparison: Aggie sounds like aggy. Aggie is a lesser institution both academically and in sports. Therefore, the kindergarten or phonetic spelling is more on target than say... TU for UT. See, it is reversed. Does not sound the same. You Tee v. Ute or Utt. I don't know what you mean.
aggy is actually a way of grouping them all together because they are pretty much the same person. aggy is just a plural way to describe the indescribable.
"aggy" is a collective description with ascribed cultural meaning. "UT" is a 3rd-grade insult. You are a ghey 2%er for thinking they are the same.
"aggy" describes the hive mentality of most (though I grant you, not all) people associated with Agricultural & Mechanical. They are what they are. On the other hand, "t.u." actually embodies the inferiority complex of aggy very well. You can't really compare the two terms directly. A better comparison would be aggy calling us "t-sips" or just "sips", but that doesn't really bother me personally. I'd rather be a sip than an aggy any day.
From my point of view, aggy is a term coined by internet posters (probably originated on this site) used as a jab in a few threads here and there. "t.u." is a fixture in the social framework/inferiority complex that has been ingrained in Texas A&M students and fans for the last 50 years. Big difference, in my opinion.
aggy did start here, as quite literally a response to the the silly backwards UT that aggy uses. Plus, it really pisses them off a lot more than the backwards UT bothers us, they just take themselves way too seriously, so it's a lot more fun to call them aggy. And yes, it's childish, that's the whole point.
A lot of Tech fans use aggy as well. I use it to describe their brainwashed cult that is without the concept of independant thought. Aggy also calls Texas Tech - Tehc or something like that as well. TU and Tehc are just stupid while aggy is a pretty good description of the cult that is college station. Aggy is to higher education like scientology is to religion.
Actually, "t.u." really pisses me off as a Texan: Unless they are referring to us as "the university," they are not capitalizing Texas when they write "t.u." No real Texan would ever even think of writing Texas with a lowercase t (I couldn't even do it then to make a point). If they want to write capital T capital U that would be less offensive. If you see lowercase t lowercase u, just assume they mean "the university."
