Based upon the liberal media, you lefties probably believe that. However, it’s Apple and Oranges different between a coach voluntarily praying and an employer requiring it as a condition of employment.

Believe what? All I know is this guy apparently is going to lose some money by paying higher unemployment insurance after paying claims for this scenario and the attorneys fees that he will require to defend himself from the ACLU, EEOC, etc.

The man was praying by HIMSELF somewhat away from the team? the argument that this “pressures” players to pray to play is a stretch of epic proportions.
Finally common sense is ebbing it’s way back to our society.

Sotomayor is just scary. She seems to think that a public school can require waiving of First Amendment rights as a condition of employment. The teacher did not force anyone to join him. This is so clear cut. School choice becomes more and more important by the day.

The use of ‘particularly vulnerable’ is grating what with the dyke school crap going on.

Bruh…he was praying at the 50 yard line. He put an ad in the paper indicating he was going to do it and invited others to do it with him. There were 500 people out there. Far from private or away from the team. The school wanted to remove the inference that you needed to pray with the coach to be in his favor.

I’m sure this group would be ok with a DL coach rolling out a prayer rug and praying toward Mecca.

Just out of curiosity, is there any evidence that the coach actually inferred this (meaning something beyond just doing it publicly)? If there was, then the clearly changes the case.

This is an example of you all not knowing your opposition as well as they know you. Most religious conservatives wouldn't care if a Muslim coach did this unless there was real evidence that he disfavored those who didn't join him.

If it were at the appropriate time of day.
I do understand your point. It just feels good as a Christian to get some freedom back.” We” are the easy targets for stereotyping a faith.

    I saw no coaches/owners

He knelt on a knee, he didn’t carry a cross on his back or serve communion.

But my point is to infer that this coach was going to punish players by not letting them play is absolutely absurd

Kudos to a man standing up -

There is no evidence that the coach did anything untoward and I’m not implying such. My point is a public display such as this could create an inference from players or parents that they need to be praying with the coach or the teacher or the principal. That’s why the school tried to coordinate a private place for the coach.

I live in a red state and my kids various coaches have facilitated prayer. No biggie to me. Had one of them facilitated a Mecca prayer the feces would have come into contact with the rotating oscillator.

    Kneeling. Ironic, no?

Christians have been having a rough time. Lol

Certainly it could, but is a speculation of what could have been inferred without supporting evidence that it was inferred or intended enough to set aside the normal employment protections for a school district employee and fire him? That seems a bit extreme and likely to create a very chilling effect on his freedom of religous exercise.

I'm skeptical, but even if it did, it shouldn't be cause for termination unless he actually showed favoritism. It shouldn't be presumed.

Well Bubba, what I mean is no one hammers, Muslims, Buddhists, or Atheists
Thanks I did not says Christians are having a hard time. But are often the targets. Enough.
For crying out loud… Christian churches are being vandalized for the SCOTUS decision.
The Muslim faith is as anti abortion as most Christian churches are, yet none are/were targeted.
And the SCOTUS decision had nothing to go with Christianity.
Those idiots showed their hand as pro abortion not pro choice by burning a pregnancy center that is a choice?
But not to the wing nut prodeath… “choice” people.

Termination? No. They might remove them from coaching duties. This guy wasn’t fired. His contract expired and they didn’t renew it. Right?

You’re painting with a broad brush. You can’t swing a dead cat here without hitting a different church. Profiles for students and candidates list their church. I will pour a 40 out for the poor mistreated Christians.

the Christian Right repurposed abortion 50 years ago and has been using that cudgel among many others on the rest of the world.

Ironically, it is the same cudgel that got the most likely POTUS to have 5+ abortions in his baggage elected to office.

    Last I’ll say on this.
I did not state nor do I feel Christians are mistreated.
They are the target for every liberal issue. That’s what I am saying.
What’s true for me and most Christians I know is is that before I became a Christian- one could have an argument about me as listed:
    -Stereotype people by skin color…
    -Homophonic
    -Gun Nuts
    - judgmental

Once I became a Christian the above bullet points were no longer a part of my makeup.

No sir. I’ll not imply Christians are “poor, mistreated” I feel the exact opposite of that.
Yes, the left blames them for absurd issues.

"You guys are just political! You didn't say ANYTHING about abortion back when it wasn't considered a constitutional right and we weren't trying to pay for it with taxpayer money. But boy, one court ruling and all of a sudden your tune changed just like that! All of a sudden abortion is bad!"

I think my eyes just sprained themselves from rolling too hard.

I don't know the full mechanism of how he was fired, but public employment contracts aren't like other employment contracts. If you're not renewed, you were basically ****-canned. My wife is on a 2-year agreement, but there's no way she wouldn't be renewed. But that isn't the point. They took adverse employment actions (suspensions, etc.) before any non-renewal. All of it was illegal.

And did you read the Court opinion? He tried to play ball with them, and they treated him like ****. If they had done the same thing to a Muslim coach who did pray, we'd be hearing about "rampant Islamophobia" and racism if the district didn't totally accommodate him. Frankly, it would never become a news story and we'd never hear about it because the district would never discipline or even say anything to him about it. They'd be far too afraid.

Much more eloquently stated than what I attended to say.
The open season on Christianity is about to take a turn.
Not the vandalism, hate mongering as seen from some of the left, but standing up for basic rights similar to the other me too radicals.
We’ve had enough. I think Jane’s revenge woke a sleeping giant.

The Hyde Amendment assures that zero public funds can be used for abortion since 1997. I’m not sure where that came from.

  26. Mr. Deez

    Mr. Deez Beer Prophet

Kinda sorta but not really, because the government gives money to entities (like Planned Parenthood) that provide abortion. Either way, your people are fighting the Hyde Amendment now, because "reproductive freedom" has been replaced by "reproductive justice."

The utter fear some have that someone might pray with their coach is hilarious. Now, they don't care if young kids are exposed to drag queens but religion scares the hell out of them.

Yeah the point of that post pretty well sailed right over your head there. It was about the gaslighting and hypocrisy that it takes for you to claim that conservatives made a wedge issue out of abortion.

It's just like how we made a 'wedge issue" out of drag queen story hour, right?
