Two socialists alone, Stalin and Mao, combined to kill or cause to be killed over 100 Million human beings. No one in history comes close to that number, not even Hitler (also a socialist). So, I am not sure how you overplay that. And, going by Hollywood's investment in this history alone, it has been severely underplayed.

Overplayed???? Bernie got 13,206,428 votes running as a socialist. That's not overplayed.

Like I've said before, people misunderstand why the Left hates Hitler and the Nazis. They think the Left hates them because they murdered a lot of innocent people (the reason most sensible people hate them). That's not the case. If it was, then you would see a similar hatred for Mao, Stalin, etc. They don't even particularly mind the anti-Semitism. (If they did, then they wouldn't mollycoddle Muslims or downplay how Jews have been treated in the Middle East.)

The Left hates the Nazis because they suppressed and murdered communists. They banned the Communist Party in Germany. They tossed their leaders in concentration camps and killed them and kept that going throughout Eastern Europe once the War started. Of course, they committed the ultimate sin of invading the Soviet Union, putting at risk the biggest force for communism in the world. In the course of the invasion, they massacred Soviet POW's by the millions and summarily executed anybody they find who was an open adherent to bolshevism. If Hitler hadn't done these things, the American Left would view him as just another run of the mill dictator.

With regard to Hollywood, decades of evidence suggest the identity of the victim does matter.

If you want to learn more about communism/socialism listen to this podcast. It is essentially a horror story that we in the US can hardly imagine.

Mr. Deez. You hit the nail on the head. The Nazi's represented the people of society left behind by the Communist movement in Europe. The Nazi's had the same beliefs, did the same things but they were the proletariat getting revenge for what had been done to them by collectivists by using collectivist doctrine, the ultimate treason.

The also saw the English with their individualism and pursuit of a quiet life in the shop as the greatest obstacles to their ideals.

I am not sure she realizes what she is describing from the opening statement on, but she is talking about the state of the dominate theory in business law (although she is 10-20 years off -- really began in 1970s)

Joe brings up a good point, but come on Deez...Hollywood hates Nazis because Nazis wanted to exterminate Communism? I'm sure there a lot of truth to that favoritism theory on why there are so very few movies on Stalin's atrocities. But Nazis are just really easy to hate and write as villains, especially in a 180 minute movie. From serious movies like Saving Private Ryan and Shindlers List to lighthearted movies like Indiana Jones...they're just great stock villains.

And your non-Stalin communists are, I hate to admit it, much more sympathetic and likable. Did you ever watch Enemy At The Gates? Freaking GREAT movie. Rachel Weisz is crazy beautiful in that. I even root for the KGB spies in the AMC show The Americans - one of the best shows on the tube.

I'll rebut that Hollywood writers are just lazier about writing communists as villians because Nazis are pret a porter.

The bigger problem is when Hollywood lionizes Marxism/communism. Motorcycle Diaries, a biopic on Che Guevara, is much more subervisive.

texas_ex2000, Deez is 100% correct actually. Nazis are the same movement from a different socio-economic identity group. Communists hate the bourgesie. Nazis were made up of those people.

No wonder people hate Nazi's - it might actually work versus the utopian losers of the left.

    Socialism = failure

Venezuela now leads US asylum requests as crisis deepens
    http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/storie...ME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2017-02-12-00-02-17

"Venezuelans for the first time led asylum requests to the United States as the country's middle class fled the crashing, oil-dependent economy.

Data from the U.S. government's Citizenship and Immigration Services show that 18,155 Venezuelans submitted asylum requests last year, a 150 percent increase over 2015 and six times the level seen in 2014. China was second place, with 17,745 requests coming from citizens of that country.

Venezuela first cracked the top 10 asylum-seeking nations following months of sometimes bloody street protests in early 2014 seeking to oust President Nicolas Maduro.

But back then, amid the widespread jailing and harassment of opponents of the socialist administration, fewer than 100 Venezuelans per month sought asylum. That compares with 2,334 requests in December, 2016, the last month for which data is available.

The number of applicants has skyrocketed since December 2015, when the opposition took control of congress in a landslide election, giving hope to many that it could disrupt 17 years of socialist rule. Instead of reaching out to his opponents, Maduro retrenched and more and more Venezuelans began to uproot as triple-digit inflation pulverized salaries and widespread food and medicine shortages made life unbearable for many....."
