Can't find it anywhere. Texassports lists all jersey numbers, but it looks like they only go back to the late 60s. For some reason, I thought he also wore #21. He had a better record than Clemens (39-7 vs 25-7) and two no-nos to Clemens zero.

So he wore 22 in football and baseball?

Actually, I do not know what number Bobby Layne wore in baseball. It may not have been #22. I just saw the question and #22 popped into my mind, but that is from football.

If we're going to re-retire #21, it should definitely be for Greg Swindell.

I am cognizant of the fact that Swindell wore 21 also.

I am still waiting for the day when the Clemens is crossed out on the 21 in the outfield replaced with Swindell whether by the university or not.

As for the original topic, I also searched and couldn't find anything so call Craig Way and ask him.

Did they even use numbers for baseball at that time?

lets see who other number should be retired before CLEMENS 21

    Kieshnick 23
    Bryant 25, Street 25
    Hooten 20
    Owen 1
    Russell 19
    SWINDELL 21

i know there is alot more

    WHAT ARE YALLS PICKS?

these or most of these were player of the year. which seems to be university criteria for retiring #'s
