Currently the avg SAT/ACT scores for incoming UT freshman is 1844/28. My daughter was accepted last year with a 3.75 GPA. Don't remember what mine was.
I don't remember my SAT score, but I got a 27 on the ACT and got CAPped. I don't remember my GPA either. It was probably around a 3.7. I had a lot going for me extra-curricular wise too- theatre, choir, part-time job, student ambassador.
My understanding is that colleges do not really consider the writing section and focus on the 1600 scale score. My kid scored above 1500 (above 2200) with a 3.75+ gpa, but was not even top 20% at her h.s. and so, didn't apply to UT. She instead got a decent scholarship to Univ. of Arizona and will attend there.
Has there been inflation on the ACT scores is 28 still considered "very high"? How much have scores been inflated by the prep courses?
An ACT score of 28 is probably not "very high". High, maybe, but not very high. The ACT scores were re-normed some years ago, with newer scores being about 3 points more than the old scores. So, an old score of 29 would now be a 32.
