...that you can buy at HEB? I'm far, far from a barbeque aficionado - currently using Jack Daniels Original. I think it's pretty good.
If you like sauce, then: 1. Ruby's (available at Central Market HEB's) 2. see #1 3. see # 1 and 2 4. Meyer's (from Elgin).
People seem pretty polarized by it, but I would drink Salt Lick BBQ sauce through a straw. I know it's available at Whole Foods. Not sure about HEB.
Earl Campbell's is pretty good. I've never really looked for it, but I have seen it in stores, so I figure they have it at HEB.
For grocery store sauce I usually put two kinds out, Stubbs original for those that like spicy Texas style sauce, and Sweet Baby Rays for those that like sticky sweet sauce. That said, I rarely use sauce on my plate.
Good BBQ doesn't "need" it, but I suck at making a good brisket. I am glad there were others who said it first, but I really like Salt Lick's BBQ sauce.
I've never seen Earl's @ H.E.B. (or Albertson's for that matter). I have, however, found it @ Academy along with Earl's rub. Since I like my stuff a bit sweeter, I have often added some honey to Stubb's & also granular brown raw sugar (not a lot) to the rub... plus, I often add smashed & minced garlic, diced onion & lemon jice to the mix. Yum! As for the sauce thing again, I really do dig the Baby Ray's... I got crazy lucky about 1½ years ago & found it on sale @ Albertson's for .78 cents... I bought 10 bottles!
