What's up with the War Ponies?

Watched a little of the SMU TCU game.

The SMU unis did not have a hint they were SMU. Their uniform had "Dallas" as to the school affiliation. The coach was wearing a hat with the same "Dallas" inscription.

What is the story?

 

methinks Oldhorn its somemore of this newage uni crapola..........the SMU helment used be a classic.

 

The triple D on the helmet is the city of Dallas emblem

 

It's about branding..they can't be irrelevant SMU right now .

Did you see they beat TCU? Dallas DDD

 

4-0 for the first time in 35 years, it seems. Death penalty and so many things happened since those heady SWC days. I'm happy for them and especially the QB, Shane.

 

Dont like the DDD but whatever...they won.

 

Triple D is appropriate since Dallas is full of titty bars and strip joints. That is what you call on point branding.

 

Are you suggesting anyone in Highland Park knows where those dens of inequity are located, much less frequent them?

Ah, I didn't think of that triple-D... I thought maybe the DDD was for "Debbie Does Dallas"

 

This summer there were billboards promoting the ponies as 'Dallas team'. If you drove out of Dallas on i30 there was one with a player in uniform pointing at you with the caption "pony UP, mesquite." Just weird.
