Man, lots of fond memories from that game and season. Shane Dronnett, who was in those highlights, was a stud. RIP.
i took a kinesiology class while at UT for an easy A. Hadnot was supposed to be in the class but he never showed up and he never dropped it because they took roll every week.
On that long UT TD pass you see how far the old end zone was from . . . the track . . . the old end zone seats.
I was sitting in that old end zone that night. I had never seen those highlights before, wow what a beast Butch was!!! The Cash brothers, Oscar and Dronett were monsters. I saw Brian Jones in there as well.
That was a great night and one of the loudest games I've been to at DKR! Hadnot should have spent more time with the books. He could have developed into a really good back.
that blog links one of these, here is the complete set of highlights with first half and postgame 1990 UT-Houston, first half 1990 UT-Houston, second half end of game, students take field
That was a great, stirring victory after the humiliation of losing to Cougar High for more years than I can remember. Speaking of backs that never lived up to their potential due to injury or book learning, where in the heck is Edwin Simmons? I remember him running through BlowU like a man among sticks in the '83 RRS.
The last time I saw Butch he was working at Dell about seven years ago. He sold me a couple of Cotton Bowl tickets.
dcc, the last I saw Of Edwin Simmons, he was working with me at a Kilgore trucking company as a dispatcher last July and August. He moved on to a higher paying job in Tyler. Here is a pic of me and him right before he left. I am 5'8" 240, and he is still in football shape!
Butch Hadnot - what a ******* bad ***. I can remember the games from that year like it was yesterday.
