I was at "senior day" at church on sunday with my wife and kids. Each year, at the end of the school year, three or four high school seniors from the church youth group get up at a Sunday service and discuss their relationship with the church, the youth group and their faith. It is always a moving experience to hear these "confessions" about their faith. This year, one young lady got to the pulpit and said something like "Hi, my name is _______ and I am a senior at _______high school. I am going to Texas A & M starting this fall." When she said this, the aggys in attendence all "whooped." This church, by the way, is a huge church in Houston and it was packed. Unfortunately, there are many aggy congregants. The final high school speaker also announced he was attending Texas A & M in the fall. They "whooped" even louder. I don't think I've ever heard people "whoop" in church.
Don't ever go to an aggy wedding then... truly a sight to behold. On second thought, everyone should go to at least one aggy wedding to see the wedding reception "traditions". Scary at the time, but funny in retrospect.
Every time that I see an aggy bonfire or representation thereof, I can't help but think of a phrase first seen on this very website: "aggy Jenga".
