I don't really want to but it seems that it is pretty standard to do so from watching tv. The DA does this in Law & Order. The police chief does in the Closer. JR did it in Dallas. Just finished watching a movie and it was pretty standard to drink hard liquor in business meetings in the office. Serving in a decanter is even better. If I take a bottle of Glenlivet to work, I have a feeling it won't go over as well if I bust that out in a meeting. I feel cheated.
Sounds like they are waiting for someone to make the first move...Im sure if you were to bring some to the next meeting and offer to co-workers, you will be their hero.
Try it next week and let us know how it goes. If we don't hear back in ten days or so, we'll assume it didn't go over well.
You should write a Memo, or Mission Statement to go along with your having a bottle on your desk. Suggest ways to change methods and approaches to business. Supervisors love this type of constructive input. Show them the money.
We have a full bar in the conference room. The boss makes sure we always have a bottle of 15 year old Macallans, (my current favorite). Yes, we've broken it out at meetings. I love that guy.
You wanna know why? Because we are a bunch of *******. We're not real men, like our fathers and our grandfathers. They could handle that ****. Hell, they INVENTED that ****. My grandfather was so tough he could beat up a Chrysler. But us? We invented blue drinks and metrosexuality. We wear birkenstocks. We like Dave Matthews.
I usually have several bottles of scotch and bourbon in my office, but I keep it in a cabinet so as not to offend any teatotaling clients. Usually break it out once a week or so after 5.
I often wish it was the 50s so I could wear a hat with my suit and not look like an idiot. I'd also like to sit in a board room filled with people smoking and drinking and talking business. Basically, I wish I had my dad's life.
I wish I worked in an office like Mad Men and could drink scotch several times a day at work...in the office...the board room...etc
Hornius...YOU TAKE THAT BACK! I'm no *****...I shoot tequila in my office whenever I want to, and I wear Birkenstocks.
Well, I have a bottle of tequila in my office, a guy two down has gin, rum from the girl two doors down, beer in the lab fridge, and vodka w/ the finance guy. But, no, no scotch. Perhaps I should take in a bottle of Lagavulin and/or Talisker
A guy in our office brought in different types of liquor and drank at work....needless to say he got fired after a month or two of that. (he was a VP so it took some time for the hammer to come down on him) But, I have a trusty flask of JD in my drawer for those rough days that just need a shot of good ole Tennessee whiskey!.
