Why didn;t the GOP address health care sooner?

    Now that the Dems are willing to wrestle with the tough issue, why do you think that for so many years the GOP has avoided this tough issue? When they had power the only costs that were cut were reimbursements to Docs. The only major legislation Medicare part D locked in Pharma profits and specifically outlawed negotiating lower prices like those in Canada and all over the world.

    For those that are Republicans I would be curious as to why you thing the GOP punted this issue when in power? Clearly there were some thought processes though obviously extremely vague relating to health care that start in the GOP.

    Anyhow I just wonder why you think the GOP was unwilling to take on this tough task and instead punted the issue down the line?
