And our goalie was excellent against Wales. Well done. Many good saves. It could have easily been 3-1 them. With a tie, we’re still in it. Gotta beat a pretty lousy Iran team, and hopefully tie England ( or lose to them by less than Wales does). Or, beat England!
Argentina was called for multiple offsides infractions, in which they scored goals. Most of the offsides calls looked legit to me (coming from a non-soccer expert; I only played as a goon/bruiser in a military soccer league). Alawei—Saudi goal keeper had some good saves, and just plain good shooting by the Arabian forwards from near the edge of the box.
Argentina is not the power it used to be, and the Saudis have invested heavily in facilities and coaches.
Poland and Mexico 0-0 at half Mexico looks like the slightly better team, but that Polish defense is stout. Poland hasn’t done much on offense, but Mexico just hasn’t been able to penetrate the Polska Defenska effectively. Vs

I went back and watched the highlights again. Al Dawsari scored the winning goal by faking out 4 Argentines and shooting from just barely inside the box. What a goal.

Well. We tied England. The highlights showed more shots on goal for us than the Brits. Good job. Now we must beat Iran to advance. After beating Wales, all the Persians need is a tie with us, so they’ll probably pack the box and play defensively.
USA vs Iran Ahhhhhhhhhh… A match between two congenial friends, where the brotherhood of man and kind, warm feelings towards the opponent will be on display in abundance. The host nation of Qatar is predominantly Sunni Muslim. So many of them hate the Shiite Iranians much more than they hate us.
