Why would we want the guy that got benched in the last two games with us? He sucks.
So, it is agreed.
We will take Rattler, and the OL will provide protection on the east side.
@Texanne that's for you.
Mayfield’s a turd, Murray’s a crybaby, we wouldn’t want them, but the NFL obviously thinks highly of them as they’re both starting. And the NFL scouts thought highly of Rattler as some projected him the best quarterback in the draft. But we’ll just let OU have the turd NFL quarterbacks and win championships with them and we’ll just keep the good old Texas kids with high upside that the right coach can possibly eventually hopefully one day “develop” into 6th round draft picks like Sam.
Better than having a TURD.
IMHO, and in the opinion of NFL scouts, Rattler is better NOW than any qb we have NOW. I’m talking about NOW. Not potentially. That’s all OU cared about when they grabbed Mayfield, Murray and Hurts. They’ve always had the priority of winning CHAMPIONSHIPS, NOW, not making sure their prized golden boy recruits didn’t transfer.
The Princess of Mobilahoma can portal elsewhere. He's a pre-madonna who isn't even that good. Go watch a couple episodes of QB1 on netflix and you'll get it.
I do not see anything that indicates for certain Rattler>Thompson NOW
Look about the same to me...except I think CT is more mature and possesses better character/disposition as it relates to football NOW
My points were not meant to apply to Rattler specifically. Just that, no matter what our situation at qb, we should at least CONSIDER a PROVEN transfer. Hopefully no one here would be against a proven transfer offensive lineman, because we need to “develop” the guys we have. So why not a proven qb? Okay, a proven transfer qb NOT named Spenser Rattler?
Casey's teammates like him a hell of a lot better than Rattler's teammates like him.
Rattler reminds me an awful lot of Bomar. Cocky, arrogant, and not very likeable, even within his own team and fellow non-athlete students.
All of this is moot without an offensive line. As Mike Tyson said:
"Everybody has a plan until they get hit."
Proven QB transfers don't just grow on trees. If a QB goes into the portal it usually isn't because he was the superstar starter at his previous school and he is just looking for a change of scenery. Best example I can think of is Joe Burrow. LSU caught lightning in a bottle with him, but he doesn't fit your definition of a "proven" QB. He never got playing time at tOSU. But sure, when a proven QB is available and he doesn't have red flags (lockerroom cancer) associated with him, we ought to at least consider going after him.
Next question: what makes you think he would consider us any more than all the other suitors out there?
Sark’s reputation as a “quarterback whisperer” and the opportunity to stick it to OU
I saw all I needed with his body language after a few mistakes in the RRR. It was denial and false bravado.
You won't improve anything, football or otherwise, attempting to protect your pride at the expense of honest assessment.
After the game earlier this week, it remains to be seen how much longer Mayfield will be starting...
We need to go after Rattler. He’s AT LEAST better NOW than any qb we have now, and POSSIBLY better than any qb we have now ever WILL be.
Sign him tomorrow! UT's current QBs are dreadful. The reason everyone thinks Rattler sucks is the fact that his replacement (Williams) may go down as the best college QB ever. Williams is special. However, Rattler makes our guys look like the JV squad.
While is is true that Williams has looked impressive, let’s see how he does when he plays the best defenses on his schedule, starting next Saturday.
Williams would look pedestrian playing behind our offensive line.
Rattler would look flat out terrible.
