I got a Weber Smokey Mountain for xmas but haven't had the time to fire it up yet (that and it was a conditional gift of which I have just recently finally met the conditions...). Do they need to be seasoned like nearly all offsets do?

If they do, all I need to do is wipe it down with some type of cooking oil (does it matter which? will vegetable or peanut suffice?) and get it going really hot for a couple hours and thats it?

I coudn't find any info on 'seasoning' it, but I would burn through at least a chimney of charcoal to burn off any oils that are on the inside of the chamber.

I sprayed the inside of mine down with Pam before I used it. Don't know if it helped or not, but figured it wouldn't hurt.
