You have to take 45 players that have played for Mack at UT to make a roster. Who do you pick? If you don't want to pick the OL just pick 35 everywhere else. This is the number an NFL travel roster can have if I am not mistaken. Who do you pick? Enough for 2 deep everywhere on O and D. 1 of each K & P. 1 Extra. Discuss
QB - Vince, Colt WR - Roy Williams, Malcolm Williams WR (slot) - Shipley, Quan WR - Limas, Kwame Kavil RB - Ricky, Ced TE - J-mike, David Thomas O-line... someone else can do this one. Def: DT: Shaun Rogers DT: Casey Hampton DE: Orakpo DE: Cory Redding LB: Sergio LB: Muckelroy LB: Derrick Johnson CB: Jammer CB: Vasher SS: Earl Thomas FS: Michael Griffin
For CB: I like Vasher, but I also like Aaron Ross and Michael Huff. O-line: Just a few names that come to mind. Mike Williams(OT), Leonard Davis(OT), Kasey Studdard (OG), Lyle Sendlien (C), Jonathan Scott (OT), Justin Blalock (OG), Derrick Dockery (OG).
I would choose different players depending on whether I wanted to win more games or wanted the highest ranked guys. Some of the guys are talented but are too much me first rather than team players.
Leonard Davis Justin Blalock Kasey Studdard Lyle Sendlein Jonathan Scott Tony Hills Derrick Dockery Mike Williams David Thomas Bo Scaife Jermichael Finley Vince Young Colt McCoy Cedric Benson Ricky Williams Jamaal Charles Ahmard Hall Roy Williams Jordan Shipley Quan Cosby Limas Sweed Sergio Kindle Cory Redding Roddrick Muckelroy Derrick Johnson Lamarr Houston Casey Hampton Roy Miller Brian Orakpo Brian Robison Derek Lokey Shaun Rogers Frank Okam Tim Crowder Earl Thomas Tarell Brown Cedric Griffin Aaron Ross Michael Huff Michael Griffin Quentin Jammer Nathan Vasher Cullen Loeffler Hunter Lawrence Richmond McGee
NFL roster size is 53, but you only get to dress 45, However, due to an inactive quarterback rule, the 3rd QB is typically one of the inactive guys, but still gets to suit up and can play if he's needed, so you can have 46 (most likely a QB as the 46th). This kind of helps you with those extra guys for different situations, such as if you're playing a Colts or Patriots type team, versus someone like the Jets or Miami. this is where you can bring in those other situational players
Given 53 person roster, * indicates practice squad QB: Vince Young Colt McCoy *Chris Simms RB: Ricky Williams Jamaal Charles Cedric Benson WR: Roy Williams Jordan Shipley Quan Cosby Kwame Cavil Malcolm Williams *BJ Johnson *Limas Sweed TE: David Thomas Bo Scaife RB: Ricky Williams Jamaal Charles Cedric Benson FB: Ahmard Hall OL: Justin Blalock Leonard Davis Mike Williams Lyle Sendlein Jonathan Scott Derrick Dockery Kasey Studdard *Tony Hills DE: Brian Orakpo Cory Redding Brian Robison *Aaron Humphrey DT: Shaun Rogers Casey Hampton Lamaar Houston Rodrique Wright *Roy Miller LB: Derrick Johnson DD Lewis Sergio Kindle Roddrick Muckelroy Aaron Harris CB: Quentin Jammer Aaron Ross Cedric Griffin Nathan Vasher *Aaron Williams SS: Michael Huff Earl Thomas FS: Michael Griffin Christian Scott ST: Cullen Loeffler Beau Trahan K: Richmond McGee David Pino I thought the LB's were the hardest to pick, as well as free safety. I just kind of threw Christian Scott in there, for potential. This kind of works for me because on defense, alot of these guys were interchangeable. Jammer, Vasher, Thomas, Huff .. alot of these guys could line up at CB or SS. Kindle could move over to DE if needed. Trahan is my special teams fan favorite
QB: Vince Young, Colt McCoy RB: Ricky Williams, Jamaal Charles FB: Ricky Brown X: Roy Williams, Limas Sweed Sub B: Jordan Shipley Z: Quan Cosby, Wane McGarity TE/Flex: David Thomas/Shipley (Quan would move to Sub B, Sweed to 1st Z in a 4-wide set) LT: Jonathan Scott, Tony Hills LG: Kasey Studdard, Cedric Dockery C: Lyle Sendlein, Dallas Griffin RG: Leonard Davis, Ben Adams RT: Justin Blalock, Mike Williams RE: Brian Orakpo, Brian Robison DT: Shaun Rogers, Roy Miller DT: Casey Hampton, Rod Wright LE: Cory Redding, Aaron Humphrey OLB: Sergio Kindle, Roddrick Muckelroy MLB: Aaron Harris, D.D. Lewis OLB: Derrick Johnson, Rashad Bobino CB: Quentin Jammer, Aaron Ross CB: Nathan Vasher, Rod Babers SS: Michael Huff, Phillip Geiggar FS: Earl Thomas, Michael Griffin K: Hunter Lawrence P: John Gold
Slugga- I will take your list with the following modifications: FB: Hall (NFL starter with speed) over Brown LG: Derrick over Cedric. NFL starter vs non nfl RG: Will Allen for Ben Adams. Allen decided against pro ball but was just as good and had experience at center in 02. which frees up... Bo Scaife TE over Dallas Griffin (C) On D: DT: Houston over Wright DE: Crowder over Aaron LB: Muck to Mike Linebacker Lee Jackson (OLB) for Aaron Harris Rashad Bobino replaced by Keenan Robinson DBs: Replace Geiggar with Aaron Williams at CB and have Vasher, Jackson, or Jammer back up SS.
1- I will take Ahmard Hall and his annual NFL starting resume vs a guy who barely made NFL Europe. 2- I'd still go with Allen. He's just as good and adds versatility. 3- Regarding Bobino, there are 6 Linebackers not on this list and 1 MMA fighter I would take over him. Reed Boyd Killebrew Kelson Rawls T Jones Derry Dude wasn't fast or big. He was ok but not much different than these guys. 5'10 230 with 4.8 speed isn't tough for UT to match.
HP, I really like your line-up. A few changes I would make. I would just get rid of the FB position and take Cedric Benson. If in a goaline situation, like you said, it's Miller time. I take D Dockey over C Dockery, Crowder over Humphrey. I'm fine with LBs, but Keenan Robinson may be deserving after this season. I think A Williams has to be on the DB list. I would start him over Vasher and knock Babers off. How in the world do two people in this thread have Malcom Williams as WR. One guy has him over BJ Johnson and Sweed?? He may only be the third or fourth best WR on the 2010 team, much less top 6 of the decade. You have to be able to catch to be a great receiver. Hopefully he worked on that little thing this offseason.
HP, I am really curious as to why you went with Aaron Harris, particularly given his ability to get teammates arrested.
