Let’s dream big. Assumption: Horns win out, make the CFP What matchups would be the most fun en route to natty #5 for the Horns? My pick: CFP Semifinals Michigan over Notre Dame Texas over Bama CFP Finals Texas over Michigan • We regain scoreboard on Bama • No SEC in the championship • Longhorns-Wolverines title game would be epic college football
Hard to believe we can even write posts like this in week 9. What a turn around. If Texas makes it to the CFP, they would be the Cinderella story of 2018!
I don't see a likely scenario where the pollsters rank us higher than 4 so its gonna be this or nothing in the semis........ vs
I have a feeling that Alabama will be the last unbeaten after the Championship games and ND will drop one before the season is over. If we win out in my scenario and beat OU again in the championship, I could see us being the #2 seed. Alabama vs. Clemson UT vs. Michigan Final Alabama vs. UT
For context, I’m a huge hockey fan, so, my dream scenario is to repeat Miracle on Ice #1980. Beat the unbeatable (Russia, err Alabama) in the semis ... the game everyone remembers ... Finnish the job in the finals against Finland, err Clemson (see what I did there hahaha, or nobody cares) We would have beaten the last two champs to claim #5 Natty! To be the champ, you have to beat the champs!
Only thing missing would be the overhead shot of the overflowing stadium, with seemingly, that voice of God: "The ROYALTY of college football is in assembly at ...."
I'd like to beat Okie Lite first and then figure out who we play the next week and concentrate on that....not to be a fuddy duddy….
Go 1-0 5 more times, Take the Big 12, after that let the chips fall. I'm on the ride and enjoying the hell out of it! Hook em
ESPN would spend the time leading up to the game comparing Bama to the great longhorn steer tamers and herders throughout history.
i would definitely prefer to play bama in the semis so they don't even get to the finals. play MU or ND
I can see Sam diving across the line into the end zone against bama with no time left. Another epic win. Works for me.
I for one would like to see an expanded playoff format. 32 teams- well thirty actually. 1-14 with bys for the number 1 and 2 teams- reward for the tougher schedule. That's for championship in the higher division. The lower division would consist of teams 15-30. Two championships. That way lesser teams might be able to claim a championship albeit not as grand a trophy as the upper division. This would be exciting for the whole country and a boon to college football not that it's in trouble or anything. I would eliminate the conference championship games and lesson the season by one game. Then let playoffs begin. A team like SMU or Northwestern may win a championship albeit the 2nd division. This way atm might even win a championship without always dreaming of one- not that we really care.
If it’s my dream scenario, I’m going to dispense with any semblance of realism. LSU beats Bama, then loses to Arkansas Fresh off the loss to LSU, Bama gets blown out by Mississippi State Georgia loses to Kentucky then Auburn Florida loses to Missouri and South Carolina A&M loses to Ole Miss and then, down 77-0 against Auburn, announces at halftime that it is folding its football program, effective immediately Week 12, the SEC’s currently ranked teams go winless against the Citadel, Rice, UMass, Idaho, Middle Tennessee State, and UAB For good measure, Auburn and South Carolina lose to Liberty and Chattanooga The SEC title game features 3-loss Ole Miss against 3-loss Kentucky Similar catastrophe strikes the Big 10 and PAC 10, except that Michigan wins out Texas and OU win out, then Texas wins the CCG Playoffs feature 1TX, 2 MI, 3 CF, and 4 OU Texas beats OU (for the third time this year!) in the semi Texas beats Michigan in an epic final
Id be thrilled to see us blow out inferior opponents. And win playoff games like we won over tulsa and baylor (barely).
I sold my soul to guarantee the win over The Greatest College Football Team In History and secure the 2005 NC. Somebody else is going to have to take one for the team to make any of these dreams come true.
