Yeah if you go to So Cal in the summer, you're swimming with great whites. Good news is they aren't nearly as interested in people as we sometimes think, especially when they're still young and aren't in the seal-eating mode yet. (Now having said that, getting on the water with the big adults might be a whole other story! ) I go scuba diving from time to time when I go to Hawaii, and last trip got to see a 6-foot white tip from about 30 feet away. He looked pretty bored by the whole thing.
I kept hearing the background music from Jaws while watching that. I think it's on Discovery, one of the shark shows where they get an attack on film. Devastated a researchers leg.
