I am feeling good about this team. They do not quit. Even in the 10-9 loss to Rice they got down 6-1 in the first and kept battling. This time, they had a bad start and a 4 run deficit. They didn't quit and got the win. Great job players, Augie, and NBHorn7 for more great updates!

You just know Pan Am could taste this victory and end that long standing winning streak Texas has had since Pan Am beat Burt Hooten in a playoff game in 1971.

When Texas finally tied it up, you know the pressure was mounting and when the Broncs didn't score in the top of the ninth with runners on the corners and one out that they could just feel it slipping away and it did.

Freshmen continue to contribute in a big way for the Horns and you love to see that. After a shaky start by Mayes, the pitching settled down and kept the Broncs scoreless the last five innings.

The bats struggled for most of the night, but with the help of some walks and two very large hits by the freshman Boswell, the Horns do pull out the win in the ninth and make it 41 straight over Pan AM.

Your going to have games like this in a long season and when you can bare down and come back and get the win, it gives a team confidence that they are never out of a game and that builds champions.

A series with San Diego is next this weekend with a three game set and finally no Saturday DH. My fingers are glad about that. See you then. I'm thinking about a victory bowl of snow ice cream, hey it hasn't snowed all winter till today.:hookem2::bevo:

Beginning to like this team. Saw the second Saturday game against Rice, and the team looked uninspired (obviously that was the worst loss so far of the young season).

Never quit, this team! :hookem: That is a great trait if they can continue and remember the relaxed confidence to get it done. WTG Horns.

Whew, that was a close one!

    Nice thread NBHorn7.

Wish the UT basketball team could stay focused and rally to win a game like that.

:hookem: Thanks for the updates NB. It is early but the start to the year has been encouraging so far.

I follow these game threads regularly but usually in-game and in tandem with tv or radio coverage. Tonight I missed the game live because of no TV broadcast (thanks LHN), and got caught up with other things. I remembered at Midnight I still didn't know the outcome.

Instead of quickly checking the score for a ho-hum fact sheet, I came here to relive the game inning by inning in detail. I have to say this thread really hit the spot and filled my mid-week Longhorn baseball craving despite missing the game. Great job, NB.

For future reference, I'd appreciate not seeing the opponents score slowly creep higher and higher sitting next to our zero. :smile1: But love the way you composed the dramatic ending to feature a comeback stampede. Thanks for the hard work and righteous ending.
And thank you rain-delay, now there's only one off day til San Diego gets hooked. :hookem2:
