I never really bought this excuse as to why TCU or Baylor wasn't included. If we're in a position where the committee would put someone into a playoff based on whether the conference had an arbitrary tiebreaker rule to determine an "actual" champion, then this whole thing is a joke.

The committee put OSU in over TCU because OSU had recently destroyed a good and ranked Wiscon team, and was a hot and clicking team. Which the Bucks then proved by whipping up on both Bama and the Ducks. They made the right choice.

The B12 is considered a second tier conference, and that image was not helped by having two teams tied for the Championship, with no tiebreaker in place. Leading to the conference transparently trying to bump up TCU by saying that they're a champion of the conference too, when anyone with sense would say no they're not, Baylor had the same record and beat them head to head, which ought to count for something.

With such foolish rules, you can't expect people to do anything but shrug their shoulders and walk away from being associated with this conference.

Those "rules" were literally nothing more than labels. What word a conference bylaw attaches to a team should have 0 bearing on the votes.

I don't think there's any question Bama's a great defense, and they got hand-delivered a team that was tailor made for them. They may well be the best team in the country, but Mich. State had nothing that would threaten Bama. Meanwhile watching OSU take Notre Dame to the woodshed, and not much question that they're a much better team than Mich. State.

The SEC was so-so this year. Alabama was/is very good. I don't think the game last night said anything to contradict that.
