I know we don't yet have a 2019 recruiting thread, but 2020 Jordyn Merritt has received an offer from Texas:
Joining Patterson at the John Lucas Top 160 is Daje Kelley. LaQuita Thompson Retweeted Cousins,2017 HBU Commit-Megan Valdez & 2020 Texas Commit-Deja Kelly will be @JLEnterprises Top 160 camp! #Hoyas pic.twitter.com/ckUHcb5mkc Deja Kelly, Megan Valdez, LaQuita Thompson and 7 others
More on Deja: Even more impressive is that she's at an event with elite seniors and juniors and she just began her freshman year.
Premiere Basketball scout Shane Laflin on Deja Kelly (and the Gordon sisters) at JLE: "UCONN commit Lexi Gordon (2017 – TX), her younger sister Myra Gordon (2020 – TX), and Deja Kelly (2020 – TX) are three more players that I would put in this mold. They are talented and can score the ball in multiple ways, but they do not force shots and they are extremely coachable. They are aware of their teammates’ strengths and weaknesses and have a court vision and awareness that makes the game smoother."
I think that picture may be from a game last season - in the photos from other recruits at last week's game, Deja was in a gray shirt. Shae was at the game - in the large group photo below, she's just in front and right of Sedona.
Megan is who I first that it was. But, that girl looks to be a foot taller than Coach A. And, in the other photo, where Megan, Coach A, Chasity, and Deja are goofing around, Megan is wearing a different shirt. I guess it could be her. But, looks much taller than Deja and Coach A.
Even in the picture Megan posted a few weeks ago with Tina, she looks to be just shy of Tina's height. Seems like her reviews have her listed a bit short of her real height.
I think Megan is a shapeshifter or master illusionist - check out the group photo from Brianna. Megan and Deja are on the left and seem much more aligned to what we'd expect based on reported height.
DeYona' Gaston, 6-foot-2 forward from Pearland (Texas), is garnering interest fron top colleges, including Texas. http://www.espn.com/espnw/sports/ar...h-list-2020-women-basketball-recruiting-class
I remember when this was all over the news and, even though she committed so young, probably the least worried I've been about a recruit:
Freshman Deja Kelly recorded her first double-double (almost a triple double) of her young high school career today: 19 pts, 12 rebounds and 8 steals.
