It looks like waiting till April to announce lost a chance at UNC with the transfer of LSU QB. It seems like a long shot given Chip Brown seems to be the only person in the know....
If I understood correctly, MZ wants to be "the guy" and not have to compete for the starting position. My thought is this goes nowhere.
Unless the SEC changes its rules, Florida cannot accept a grad transfer because of past failures to show academic progress. Rumor is that Malik wants to be enrolled by June 1 ... so the SEC wont have time to meet and change its rules http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsport...changes-will-be-discussed-at-spring-meetings/
Phone lines are open 24/7. All it would take is a 5 minute conference call (3 minutes telling each other how great the conference is; 1 minute of laughter over how bad the Big XII is; 30 seconds to laugh at the money E$PN is paying them; and 30 seconds to vote).
Not a big loss IMHO: https://www.google.com/amp/s/florid...port-Malik-Zaire-chooses-Florida-52933042/Amp
Yes and no. Does Texas need an experienced QB to back-up Shane so Sam can RS - Yes. Would this guy have been anything more than a body - No.
He couldn't keep his starting job on a bad 4-8 team. He had only a handful of good games in his career, so he's annoyingly inconsistent. In other words, he's a slower version of Jerrod Heard or a smaller version of Tyrone Swoopes and he expects to start and has dreams of being an NFL quarterback. Oh did I mention he couldn't win the starting job on a bad 4-8 team whose most shining moment was ALMOST beating a 5-7 team? A game in which he spent most of the time on the bench?
I honestly couldn't get that excited about him coming here, particularly watching him play against our defense. I thought he looked pretty ordinary.
Hope he does well. We don't play them so good luck. I wanted him as a backup so this is probably better for him.
