What he said was he disagrees with the decision to ban the reporter. That is his right, to disagree.

 

The founder of the SPLC is Morris Dees (I admit I read his book a couple decades ago). He and his wife got divorced back in 1979. Apparently those court records were released recently. In them, the ex Maureene Dees says he "attempted to molest his 18-year-old step-daughter with a sex toy." The step-daughter did testify under oath to these accusations.

But I guess, since he is a liberal Democrat, its all cool? This does seem to be the rule now.




The SPLC is not responding to requests for comment.

A Harley Biker is riding by the zoo in Washington, DC when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the collar of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents. The biker jumps off his Harley, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch. Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings the girl to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly. A reporter has watched the whole event.

The reporter addressing the Harley rider says, “Sir, this was the most gallant and bravest thing I've seen a man do in my whole life.”

The Harley rider replies, “Why, it was nothing, really. The lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger, and acted as I felt right.”

The reporter says, “Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a journalist, you know, and tomorrow's paper will have this story on the front page. So, what do you do for a living, and what political affiliation do you have?”

The biker replies "I'm a U.S. Marine, a Republican and I’m voting for Trump."

The journalist leaves.

The following morning the biker buys the paper to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads, on the front page:
“U.S. MARINE ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT & STEALS HIS LUNCH”

And THAT pretty much sums up the media's approach to the news these days!

 

The lion pit is in the middle of the zoo, so not sure how a biker would see the incident from the road, unless I am missing something. - Never Trumper

The NYT itself set the standard for firing someone over their twitter history. They fired a woman earlier this year within hours of hiring her, for this reason alone

The difference with this time vs. Quinn Norton is the direction of the politics.

Also, what the hell is wrong with both of these people? What professional posts stuff like this on social media - especially on a platform as public as Twitter? How dumb can someone be? And how dumb would you have to be not to delete those Tweets before interviewing for a high profile job with one of the most famous (or infamous) employers in the world?

 

In the world in which they live, there are no repercussions for this type of talk. They are insulated.

As I have maintained for all of my posting history here, we will never progress from this kind of thing until we can collectively agree that judging/hating people because of the color of their skin is the *literal* definition of racist

 

They also think that everyone agrees with them on the subject.

 

That may be true of Jeong, because she's non-white and because you can say whatever you want about white people. However, Norton said "***" and "nigger" on Twitter. (Of course, in private, liberals say those words as much as anybody else.) In the public realm, those are career-enders.

So it's cool that she hates white people, she just needs to not tweet about it that specifically.

 

Trump needs to back down on the rhetoric. Calling the media "enemy of the people" and basically stirring up hatred and division is eventually going to lead to violence. Which would be horrible. Because we'd hate for BOTH extremes to be violent and abusive!

Not surprised at the double standard. I'd be curious to know who these people were who were harassing her. I'm not buying that excuse. It doesn't really fit what she posted.

 

She obviously played the victim to keep her job and the NYT wanted to believe her so they did. Those tweets aren't responses or response to others at least as shown on the pictures. Those are her statements to the world looking for agreement with her wisdom. This is a common type of tweet or FB post where you say something to incite anger so that you can verbally beat down those who have responded negatively.

 

I wonder where the cut-off is to be classified as an old white person? Should you have been say, 25 in 1964, the year the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was enacted? What if you were born that year? That'd make you 54 years old. Is that old? What if you were 18 that year, making you 72 today. You had nothing to do with the Jim Crow laws. You were just a kid. But maybe you were indoctrinated by your parents so I guess that means, too bad, you're evil.

 

It's the same standard that is being applied to Moonves. We know the game.

 

I don't know this person from Adam or Anne but can attest to the Twitter trolls being a force (left and right). Anonymity breeds false courage to say some pretty horrible things.

 

No doubt true, but her comments did not seem like a reaction. Maybe they were, but they didn't seem like it.

 

That's the problem...you're only getting part of the story, the part a certain party wants you to know because it makes everything seem so much worse. Rational people generally make rational decisions.
