Very interesting situation. If I were TT I would not fire him. But if they do, I’d take him in a heartbeat at Texas. But we’d probably have to get in line behind a few NFL teams.
He is signed through 2020. $3.5 mil base salary. Kliff’s contract details: Kliff Kingsbury contract at Texas Tech
If I’m willie taggart I’m picking up that phone ASAP to see if he is interested in running the offense at Florida state
He won’t be unemployed long, he isn’t head coach material but he is a very good offensive coordinator. That said, Manziel made Kingsbury and Sumlin a bunch of money.
Tech screwed over the best coach they are ever likely to have. They would love to be at Wazzou’s level of play right now.
Interesting situation. Like the situation with Beaty at Kansas, seems like you could see a program improving, but not showing in the win column yet.
This. All because pandering to Craig James was more important than winning FB games. I knew exactly what tech would be with Klingsberry as coach and I was right.
Plus, they were pissed at Leach for using his leverage to play hardball for more money. No coincidence that their trumped up firing reasons happened in the nick of time to avoid paying him a huge bonus. It was a dick-measuring contest by the BoR, and in winning, they lost.
Here's where I get to slip in the kind of irresponsible, barely grounded in reality, type of post that makes the internet great: How about Major Applewhite as a dark horse for Tech? Per Renu Khator's dreamworld comments about expecting 10 win seasons at Houston (they've had a grand total of 8 of those in 70 years), Major hasn't been cutting the mustard. I don't know how ready he is to get out of Houston but Tech represents a step up and a bigger stage. The Red Raiders are so desperate for wins I'm sure they'd allow Kendal Briles on their campus and his system would probably mesh well with Kingsbury's players.
