Correct. Also, my friend was entering his residence from the alley too. He lived in Chicago, not the suburbs.
I have not, but I went on my 30th birthday (which is in late October) and it snowed. I was filming it and the rest of the city was just going about their day. Then we went to the Bulls game Halloween night and it was the hardest freezing rain I've ever experienced. It was like a torrential downpour, just frozen. It hurt.
Used to travel to Chicago often for business, sometimes in the winter. Dion is right, it can be brutally cold and the wind will cut through anything you are wearing.
I had a friend that worked for Southwest Airlines, actually now that I think about it two guys I know are pilots there. Really nice guys both of them. Anyway, they love working there and they're based in Texas. But, you're wife is from Chicago so I get it. My in laws live two houses down from me and my name ain't Raymond and everyone does not love me. So, trust me, I get it. They say the grass is always greener. I don't know.
My wife is a pilot for SWA, I'm a pilot at Frontier. Rumors of a pilot base opening in, of all places, Austin in Q3 or 4 of this year. That is intriguing. We actually met in Dallas. She likes Texas, so, who knows? Stranger things have happened. I could end up back down there. Than y'all would get sick of seeing me down there all the time.
Cool, good luck. Love SWA, what a great company! I met Herb Kelleher once or twice. He was something else. I want to live in the general Austin area, you heard about that probably. Small world.
My son marched in the McDonald's Thanksgiving Day parade a few years back. It was 9 degrees and very windy. The brass instruments had spit-cicles from their valves. Chicago = Professional Cold!
Here 3 years next month. Almost halfway up and hiring like crazy. Should upgrade to captain this summer.
Love the previous replies. Perfect. MC ... if that was a setup for the replies ... my hat's off to you too ... but just in case ... yeah ... there's a MAJOR turnover occurring right now. My outfit is retiring an average 3/day ... per day ... since Mid October. We had a manager mention "cannon shot" in reference to seniority increases ... but that was 10 years ago. it's FINALLY happening, but it's because of retirements, not necessarily expansion/growth. @horninchicago An AUS domicile, eh? interesting. Will hope that happens for ya ... prob be senior though! LOL Waiting w/ baited breath (whatever that means!) ... for the O/W date announcement.
@ShAArk92, that's been the rumor for a while. Just opened PHL. Rumor is AUS and RDU this year. Probably right about it going senior. That's okay, I may be able to entice the wife to go to DAL with SWA.
I also love how convenient the L is in Chicago. You can go anywhere, and it's so convenient. Austin needs it so badly, especially at the rate we're growing. And to have a "metro" in Austin that doesn't go to UT or the airport...
naw ... baited as in the hook is baited and I'm waiting with great anticipation for that bobber to bob! and I'm breathing.
Please tell Chris to make it the 13th. I will be out of town on the 6th. Really want to make this one. Never tried grilled crow.
