Hydro is way underrated. The big dams like Hoover, Grand Coulee, and some in BC produce enormous amounts of electricity. Hoover alone can produce 2080 MW enough power for 5 million households!!! (so says Alexa). You can't say that about any wind farm or solar farm.
It's not just limited to the West. Upstate NY, Maine, NH, Penn, WV, Wisc, downstate Ill, and lots of other places have enormous hydro electric potential. Anywhere with water and significant changes in elevation. About 2/3 of the country.
In the 1970's activists, including some celebrities, got a bunch of hair up their rear ends and vigorously campaigned against hydro. 'Free the rivers', etc. Bunch of disgruntled kayakers and extremist environmentalists (concerned about some obscure supposedly endangered species that almost nobody had ever heard of--much less actually seen) joined the fray. Today, sensible environmentalists should strongly back more hydro. It's clean and renewable yet, unlike other clean and renewable sources, it makes enormous amounts of electricity. It should be a much bigger piece of the pie.
It never gets discussed. It should.
And to tie it back to the thread topic--Christian Persecution--you could light up a lot of church billboards with all that potential hydro power... That and lowering the need for oil from hideous regimes that persecute Christians.
