Another thing to think about: the QBs we've recruited have been in the dual-threat run and pass mode. If we get a new OC that needs something different at the QB position, we may hit the transfer portal. Regarding Sam. I think he played with a hurt arm for the later part of the season. He had some accuracy troubles and problems airing it out deep in the TCU, ISU, and KSU games. I believe that, with him healed up, he could be a decent pro-style QB in a pinch, but that's really not his game. Sam's a dual threat QB. We haven't seen enough of the backups to really know what they've got. Of course, a smart OC will work with the talent he's got and modify things that will work effectively with Sam, Thompson, JQ Jackson, Card, etc. (notwithstanding what the binder says). Card might make a good pro style system passer--I haven't seen enough of his film to really know.
Oh yeah, almost forgot. Say CDC, have a meeting with Herman in a room with a fireplace, and chuck that damn binder in the fireplace.
and IIRC, there have been a handful the last two years of Charlie's who either entered the draft their junior year and was signed ... or transferred doing quite well. Point is ... accomplished athletes. So ... yeah, I'm getting a little weary of beating on the players who were on the roster in 2017 as "Charlie's kids" (for those too young to remember "Jerry's Kids" .... and I've got a special needs close relative, so withhold any sanctimonious retort) There was a time when "installing the scheme" had merit. end of year 3 .... nope. By year 3, evidently, we need to have an established vector to 'BACK" ... back in the conference championship ... and winning it. Being in the playoff discussion as something other than comedic relief. .... by year 4 ... winning it all. That's the time line. I'm sorry CDC gave Herman a contract extension after year two of five. Apparently "saving face" is more important that getting a Head Coach who already knows how. Even if he'd won the national championship in year two ... I find that to be premature. But here we are. looking at some level of coaching staff change bound for the weedeater bowel ... against aggy!
Wescott Eberts at BON says all changes are effective immediately. There are a lot of reassignments including advisers to field status coaches for the bowl game and recruiting. This includes Carrington.
Would love to get Brady. Frankly, surprised Orlando went before Beck. Beck better be gone or reassigned at the least. I prefer gone.
OK, who was supposed to be Special Teams coach, or did we not have one, OK, I know we did not have one, but was someone being paid to perform those duties? Did w fire the Special Teams coach?
Gary Johnson was sure a big help, but he was gone this year. The ones that left early harmed themselves more, it seems.
What does this mean. Are you saying that Charlie was a great recruiter, got great athletics, and a great coach, why did we lose? How can a coach have great athletics and lose without it being the coaches fault?
