Utes are 11-2. We are 7-5 and just removed our OC & DC. The last team we beat with a winning record was KState. Some 'fear', if thats what you want to call it, of this matchup does not seem unfounded to me.
I would say I'm scared to death...this was the NUMBER FIVE team until late on Friday....we'll need to come prepared!!!
No fear!! This is the perfect opportunity for the Horns to knock off a ranked opponent. It's time for this team to get over whatever butt hurt they have, get together as a team, and play harder than they have at any point this season. It's the last time some of these guys will wear the burnt orange, and a chance to go out a winner. So, bring on the Utes, beat them down and kick them in the face as we leave the stadium.
I remember because in 2008 Utah went 13-0 and claimed it was not fair they were left out of consideration for the national title. However, we were supposed to play them and they dropped the game at the last minute. If they had played us, they would have had their chance to prove they belonged. Since they knew they had a shot at an undefeated season and likely would not beat us, they dropped us. The minute they dropped us, I felt no sympathy for them and felt they did not have a legitimate claim at the national title since they went the cowardly Joe Paterno 1969 Orange Bowl route. Had we played and likely beaten them, that quality win would very likely have put us ahead of OU in the BCS standings. So yes, I very much remember that BS that hurt us and want payback. #NeverForget (You also may have noticed from my posts in general that I remember a lot of Texas and college football minutia. )
Yep! I remember Paterno didn't like Texas being the undisputed national champ, so, according to a story at the time, Paterno went a bought NC rings for his team. If he wanted a NC that badly, he should have manned up and played us in the Cotton Bowl.
And our boys should take on the battle cry "You'll Remember The Alamo Bowl!" and then mud hole them...I mean, beat them like a redheaded stepchild! (Apologies to any of you that have or were redheaded stepchildren)
I was hoping we'd break the ice with aggy in the Texas Bowl. What better way to do it than in a meaningless bowl game. That rivalry will get restarted at some time whether fans from both schools like it or not. But, in college football, money talks. UT will fill the seats and improve TV ratings.
The Alamo Bowl hasn't ever excited me because when we end up there it means our season has been a disappointment of some kind. As such, Utah neither scares nor worries me because I'd have to care about the game first.
If Texas beats the Utes (saw the Joe Pesci reference earlier, that was awesome), will they say they weren't ready for the game and were down because they missed the CFP?
