I went all in sometime during the football season when I realized the absolute best negative recruiters against the University of Texas are its own fans. At that moment I decided that I was going to support all teams 100% during the season and until recruiting is finished and then air my gripes after the season (I am not always successful) Anyway this is an incredibly talented team that is also fun to watch (which I find really rare these days in college basketball). Shaka will build back up their confidence (which seems to have evaporated) and the team will be ready to make a deep run in the NCAA tourney.
I’ve got it. Maybe the team adopts a catchy new slogan, like “FINISH”. Perhaps the team can have a meeting where they watch a power point based on “FINISH” with some inspirational music and other buzzwords like “SYNERGY” sprinkled throughout. A cute young lady can take their orders for wraps and fancy teas at the start of the meeting. At the end of each timeout huddle during the games the players will all shout “one two three FINISH!” Their warmup shirts can say “FINISH.” This is certain to work. This might even be as great as when football teams raise four fingers at the start of the 4th quarter. We can gimmick our way out of the slump.
Chop no preview for this week ends game? You are to basketball as JF is to recruiting. You can't lets us down!
Next week we have 3 games: Oklahoma ISU West Virginia This is a great time to be getting our MoJo back. What a win vs TCU.
I will quote Shaka, "Sometimes the basketball Gods just wont let you win sometimes." So it was the basketball Gods fault.
Here's what's left: 2/27 at Tech 3/2 at ISU 3/4 at OU 3/7 at TCU Thus far, we're actually a bit better on the road than at home, so the road trip doesn't bother me. I think we're better than all 4, including OU. The better team doesn't always win though. Beating Tech at Lubbock will be a nice achievement. While their talent isn't what it's been in recent history, on his best days their coach is almost as crafty as Shaka, and they find ways to win. ISU played a heck of a game vs. Baylor (Baylor coming off a long Rona shutdown), so they're possibly not the same pushover we faced earlier this year. TCU is a solid average team that you have to play reasonably well to beat. OU is good, but I see them as the most overrated team in the conference at this point. We lost by one point last time--playing with 7-8 scholarship players (no Ramey, no Sims, no Cunningham) and without our coach. We beat OU this go round. And then we sweep the Big 12 tourney and get a high seeding in the Big Dance.
Yes ^^^ We do have better talent, and are more athletic than any team left on our regular season schedule. We should win all four games. We must beat ou and ttu to get a regular season split. These are confidence building opportunities. We had 17 turnovers against KU, many of them unforced. Our guards are often careless/reckless, dribbling into nowhere land while not taking care of the ball. I really liked the way Coleman drove the ball at the hoop in OT and drew the foul. FT's were the difference for us for once. If, and it's a big IF, our guards stop over dribbling and opt for motion, passes and assists then we can compete with BU. And if it's close at the end, anything can happen.
The thing that gets me is when a player passes the ball to the open air (nobody's there) and it goes out of bounds. Those are the most highly irritating turnovers.
Just another piece of evidence that winning and making money is the only thing that matters: Kansas announces lifetime contract for Self
Self has legit not missed a tournament in 22 consecutive years. Has gone to 3 elite 8's with 3 different teams. Self is nails. Smart move by KU. Really no surprise here.
I put it in the same league as LSU keeping their basketball coach. I know it sounds sanctimonious, but the arrogance of these programs (don't forget Arizona keeping Miller around and the fans giving him a standing ovation) is pretty bad in my book.
