Baylor is a private school and we are a public university. Our books are open and Baylor's are not. Same reason we did not consider Sampson.
USA Today estimates Drew made $3,350,634 in 2020. If we can offer Beard $5M, we could've offered Drew $5M! Men's College Basketball Coach Salaries - USA TODAY
Drew is a good coach but a sorry sack of ****, not quite up to Art Briles' standard but not all that far off either. Drew has no ties to UT like Beard does, so there is no Alma Mater type allure either.
NO, WE are not all wondering why. Neither Drew would ever be on the payroll of The University of Texas. Barry Switzer would run a cleaner program at Texas than either of the Drews would. Keep in mind that Scott Drew answers to the old guard that have been running Baylor for the last forty years, the same crew out of the old basketball program that covered up the drug abuse (both cocaine & steroids), the deaths of two athletes, the sex scandals. Drew does NOT answer to the AD or the school's president, he answers to the old guard. No, NO, and HELL NO! Is he a good coach? Definitely,
Baylor absolutely dominated Gonzaga and deserved the win. That semi-final game certainly had an impact on the Zags. They were emotionally and physically flat. Not taking anything away from Baylor as they were en fuego all night long. They had a couple of 3pt baskets to answer every Zag attempt to claw their way back into the game.
I do not think you understand, it is not about money, it is about ethics. Are you not familiar with Sampson. The difference between the two is Sampson got caught and he is small time compared to Drew.
Barry didn't hide his, Baylor buries their's - literally. That's not totally correct, unless they buried the ashes of the kid cremated in less than 24 hours with no autopsy.
Yeah, UCLA on paper should have been less of a test than Houston and thus Baylor should have been worn down more than Gonzaga was. But Houston had about the easiest path to the Final Four ever. Which wasn't their fault, you can only play who the tournament places you up against, but I think they just weren't ready to face Baylor's level of opposition.
Yep, you play who you get. UCLA played very well against Gonzaga whereas Houston looked lost. Watching both of those games I thought 3 of those teams brought their A-game for the semi-finals. Alas, Houston didn't show. Baylor's defense certainly should get credit but outside of Sasser nobody showed up to play for Houston.
The $EC and B1G were overrated and the PAC-12 was underrated all of which created an imbalance in the brackets.
Apparently, this Baylor team could make their free throws.... Phi? Not so much (unless they could slam-dunk their free throws)....When I saw Hakeem draining free throws in the NBA during their title years, I'd yell at the television "why the hell couldn't you do that back in 83?"
Anybody who thinks Baylor is dirtier than OU must be less than 20 years old. OU wrote the textbook on dirty. Baylor is just a mere elementary student by comparison.
It's about winning. That's why Augie stayed despite the DWI while Charlie was let go with zero NCAA infractions. What have you caught Drew doing that the NCAA hasn't?
Take your choice on the DrewS' programs: 1) Drugs 2) Cash & drugs 3) Women & drugs 4) Women, drugs, cash & weapons
