Did Maxine Waters screw up, or did the trial judge? Maxine Waters has been a crazy woman who said dangerous things like this for 30 years. For all the criticism Marjorie Taylor Greene takes (and rightly so), Waters (and most of the CBC) is no better. I remember her yapping stupid **** like this during the LA riots. She's an idiot and a crackpot who should be an embarrassment to her party (and is an embarrassment to the sensible members of it). However, there's a reason why Waters's remarks could make a difference - the judge didn't ensure that they wouldn't, and that's his screw-up.
Why in the hell wasn't this jury fully sequestered during this trial? We've had the entire political media and activist class of this country spewing ******** and idiocy not only about the specifics of this case but about the implications and consequences of the verdict. If members of this jury turned on a TV or radio for five minutes, logged onto Facebook or Twitter, or picked up a newspaper, they've almost surely heard some ******** commentary from a media outlet saying that it's racist to acquit or that violence will justifiably come if there's an acquittal. It's precisely the kind of crap that you DON'T want a jury influenced by in rendering a verdict. I know judges don't like to sequester, and juries hate it for obvious reasons. However, if it's not warranted in this case, I can't imagine a case in which it would be. We sequestered in the OJ trial. This case justifies it every bit as much - maybe even more because our media is even worse than it was then. Activism has supplanted journalism.
