Chop, As a member of the Florida Foundation and UF Alumni Association, my friends really believe that Napier is a done deal. I think it is a bad job for Billy. I have two BMD friends in Baton Rouge. They called and asked me whom I would go after, and whom I would want if we replaced Sark. I said Gundy. Asked if I could get him on the phone, I said, I may not, but I knew who could, and she's in Columbia, SC. If USC hasn't already wrapped up Ficklell, they get what they deserve, probably Jack Del Rio. USC is a private school that personifies the lie attributed to the Bald Buffoon.
College Sports News and Recruiting Lincoln to USC and Florida takes Napier. Crazy. LSU may have shat the bed.
Yep. OU suddenly has massive instability. The boy genius is gone. And he's probably taking his superstar QB with him. This bodes well for us.
Three headed monster of Brown, Strong, and He-Man. The weekly press conference will be a mixture of "Bill, we didn't play well", "Must play better, must play smarter", and "Winning is hard".
OU and LSU — any reason either would Not want Fickell? Maybe Gundy is proven over a longer track record…? I don’t think Mel Tucker is going to either. Good call on the Napier to Florida hire—Sabre and others.
"That guy" was Tom Herman's best friend, one time college roommate, and we assumed he would be coming to Austin with Herman. He refused a good size raise and guaranteed three year contract to work for Orgeron instead of his old college buddy. That was my first signal all may not be right in paradise.
Things could change, but I think their attempts to open communication have been rebuked. We all know that LSU is a much better job, but we don't know what happened in Baton Rouge when he was there.
And, Baylor has money to match the LSU offer if they want. Sad to say, but Baylor has been much better in football than Texas over the last ten years and did not fire a coach that won a naty two years ago. Why leave Waco to go too Norman? OU could be starting the next John Blake era....
FWIW my contact at Tiger Ath Foundation (who was wrong on Riley) says the athletic director has a rock solid verbal commitment from a splash hire.
The Sporting News weighs in on possible new OU coaches: Bob Stoops, Mark Stoops, Matt Campbell, Heupel, Luke Fickell, Jay Norvell, Hugh Freeze Oklahoma's 7 best coaching candidates to replace Lincoln Riley, from Bob Stoops to Josh Heupel
Kalen De Boer (Fresno State) takes over the Huskies program. De Boer has a 79-9 record as a head coach. He'll end up giving Mario and Riley some runs for the PAC title.
Carrington to join Dykes at TCU. I know some on this board didn't like Carrington's social stance but I think the guy is relevant to young recruits and consider this a plus for TCU.
He adds value to recruiting. Hopefully he doesn't get a hair up his rear end about TCU's school song (whatever it is...).
Jake Dickert named permanent HC for WSU. After their biggest win ever over cross-state rival UW that isn't a surprise.
